After my hard reset I installed Zlauncher 4.3 and manager. i then proceeded to install 5b4.1. I had this version before too. For whatever reason theme manager and tab properties don't see the jpg images (in both RAM and the backimage folder on the card). Am I forgetting or missing something to get this to work?

Forgot to mention Palm Photos can read the files I can view them in it.

Don't the pictures have to be in the PRC format to be viewed in ZLauncher?

I think you need to install the file "JpegLib.prc". It did not come with 5b4.1, but if you have the files from 4.3 you should have this file.
ziggy is almost certainly right. I had the same problem and tore my hair out until it suddenly dawned on me that jpeglib had been deleted somehow.
yep - I can confirm that jepglib is very much needed by zlauncher. I forgot about it recently too when reinstalling everything. :(

That would be the problem :) I didn't think of that either but looking at my device the file is missing I will have to add it when I get home from work.
I was beginning to think i was going to have to hard reset all over again lol.

I have a problem with the new beta also. I beamed Texttwist to another device but it wouldn't show up in ZLauncher, only outside the program. I tried refreshing the apps but that didn't work. Any suggestoins or is this just a bug?

I have just installed jpeglib.prc onto the handheld, soft reset was done, and still no luck with the background. Is there a work around, or do I need to reinstall 4.3 then jump to the new beta?

I didn't even try this. I just went right to the beta. Thats when I discovered the prob and got the answer here for the jpeglib.prc
2 question: Where are you storing the jpgs you are trying to use? and depending on the answer are they listed in zlauncher? and if so do you get error messages?
Mine just didn't list the jpgs at all until the jpeglib.prc was installed.

Hmm I've always had a problem with pictures not showing up on my Clie even if jpeglib was installed. I have images on the Clie and on the card and none show up except for the one picture I had converted with Photostand or Picturegear. I even installed some pictures onto the card as prc files files with Splash Photo and they still are not shown in my backimages menu. The wallpapers that do show have a file ending with pdb though that I installed with the XP theme.

You don't need jpeglib on a Clie. Sony built that functionality into the ROM for the DSP to decode graphics. Putting on a Sony probably interferes with calls to the built-in libraries.

I guess the best thing now would be to delete it then.

Yep, delete them. Should fix you right up.

Apparently, even after I deleted JPEGlib I still cannot see most images in the Back Image menu. Another weird thing is that the pictures that I install through Splash Photo (pdb selected) all have prc extensions while the JPG pictures keep their .jpg extension.

Have you tried to copy the images (jpgs) to the backimage folder on the memory card via a card reader rather than installing the images?

Actually I haven't.
Edit: Just tried loading some pictures on via card reader and it looks like they still aren't showing up in the back images menu.

ZL only uses simple jpegs for backgrounds. Make sure that your images aren't progressive jpegs. It probably won't recognize jpegs converted to prc files by another program, but I haven't checked that. ZL will only find jpegs that are in the /Palm/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImage directory.

I have moved the pictures to the Back Image folder but they still don't show up. Is there anyway to tell if a JPEG file is progressive or not?

I'm not a big graphics guy, so I don't know an easy way. The only way that I know for sure is to try to load it in SpashPhoto on my Palm, because SpashPhoto doesn't support them either.

Hmm I've tried loading them with Splash Photo and it seems that they still aren't recognized.

SplashPhoto on the desktop or Palm? SpashPhoto on the desktop will convert progressive jpegs to simple ones without asking.
So, are you saying that SpashPhoto on the Palm won't load the jpegs? If so, then they are probably progressives and ZL won't read them.

Splash Photo on the Desktop will load the images onto my card or handheld but it won't show in the Zlauncher Back Images Menu but they will show in the folder.
The pictures also show fine in Splash Photo on the handheld.

Do you still have the SJ30? It may not have the built-in Sony libraries because they don't have a DSP for MP3 play. Can you use Filez to look at your ROM and see if you have files with names similar to JPegLib? What version of ZL are you using? I'm thinking a little broader at this point.

I do still have the SJ30. I don't have Filez I usually use the Zlauncher File Manager to look at my files. Would I be able to see the files with the ZLanucher File Manager?
I am using the latest Beta of Zlauncher at this point.
