Just had to reinstall the desktop s/w and now I can't sync - anyone have an idea why?
If this isn't the right forum please point me to the right one.

Now the desktop won't run and I get this error in XP -
AppName: palm.exe AppVer: 4.1.4.0 ModName: palmui.dll
ModVer: 4.1.2.0 Offset: 000072b7

Are you able to access your MS through MSImport??

assuming you mean MSexport - then no. Can't find an MSimport.

Oddly it's the address book that returns an error but running the Clie desktop in XP causes it to crash and abort anyway.

My guess would be there are references to condiuts or something left in the regisrty that have been mangled by unistall/reinstall process.
Try the hotsync check tool: http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/hotsynccheck.html (on same page is a link for How to resolve an 8009 error while trying to synchronize data (Windows)" )

Otherwise try uninstalling again, using a reg cleaner like http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm or http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,4666,00.asp (use all reg utils with care & backup first!), and then reinstall desktop.

thanks for that didn't know of the tool.

Anyway it's not finding an error and I've un/re-installed a couple of times so I think a reg cleaner is the way to go.
