IIRC, PG pocket doesn't support JPEG. You have to convert the pictures using Picutre Gear Light on the PC first.
You need to convert it to PGP format via PictureGear Lite on your PC first. When you install the PictureGear Lite from the installation CD ROM, a shortcut of it should be available on your desktop. Then you need to launch it, find the picture that you want to convert it to PGP format, click File, Output Services, ... The rest is self explanatory.
Oops didn't realize you beat me to the punch Sideway.

Try using something other than PG Pocket?

I take it this Forum is only for use of the in crowd to congradulate each other on how well they can use their Clie!
The last answer is the crux of my question & answers nothing! Inless of cause I already know the answer!
You won't get help if you have negative response like that next time. First of all you posted a weird question. If you have PGPocket in your Clie, why wouldn't Sony includes PictureGear Lite in the Installation CD-ROM. That does not make any sense. If you don't have the Installation CD, just tell it honestly and some member in the forum may be able to help you.
I pop in my Installation CD-ROM (version 1.0), and it is in there. Here is how I find it:
1. Click on the second button called "2. Install CLIE' Utilities" which then opens another screen.
2. Click the second button called "Install CLIE' Image Software", which again opens another sreeen.
3. Click the first button called "Install PictureGear Lite"
Then the installation will then automatically proceed. If you look at the Windows Explorer it will be in:
D:\CLIE\PC\Picture Gear Lite\Picture Gear.
The folder size is 19.1MB and has 10 files.

I think I was pointing out that I wasn't actually getting any help!
Telling me to do what I am saying I can't do does not qualify as help!
So to answer your points:
Yes I do have my Installation disk, but as I have an NX70 I do not have the same software package as offered with the NV!
There is no JPEG to PGP conversion software on my CD!
I know I am on the wrong board for the NX, but I posed my question here after search on the subject of PGP!
My question still stands:
Can anyone suggest another method of converting jpeg to pgp?
Thanks for any help!
PS Feel free to ignore me if I'm been too negative for your liking!!

Sleeper,
Can't help w/your PGP problem, but have seen and experienced your other problem. Asking a simple, albeit honest question on this site will unfailingly reward you with responses meant not to help, but to show you explicitly how much less you know about the Clie than the 'professionals' who frequent these boards. It's a geeky world around here, and non-geeks aren't welcome by many.

Is there any reason that you must view pictures in PGP format? Since you have the NX, you have the JPEG decoder libraries built-in and you can use any image viewing app to view JPEG directly, without converting them first. I suggest using something like AcidImage (great but not free) or CrsImageView (free but not much feature).

The reason I want pictures in PGP format is I am using PhotoSkin to try and and put photo's onto my Graphiti area!
PhotoSkin requires PGP format!
So my question is:
Can anyone suggest another method of converting jpeg to pgp?
Thanks for any help!

To put this thread to rest!
I still have not been able to find a way to import PDP photo's onto my Clie!
However as my purpose was to create Grafiti skins with my own photo's on I have solved my problem!
I have loaded "Graffiti Skin Maker for NR70" onto my PC. I design & build complete skins on the PC then import them onto my NX!
I have had no problems using the application with the NX. The trick to using it is to reduce/crop a picture down to 320x130 pixels and save it as "background.bmp" within the Skin Maker Application. Images of buttons should be added for clarity!
After one or two goes it is quite easy!
Anyone having problems & wanting to do this please contact me for a step by step explanation!

You can convert images from jpeg to pgp directly on your handheld.
1. First resize your image on your pc.
2. Then load the image in the DCIM/100MSDCF directory on your MS
3. Open PGPocket and select MS from the drop down menu at the top.
4. At the bottom of the screen select DCF.
5. Go to menu-image-Import/Export.
6. Choose PGP format.
That's it.

I struggled with this for a while. What the other posters have said is true, you must convert your original picture to the format PGPF that PG Pocket will display. You can do this with PictureGear Lite on a Windows machine. On a Mac, you may use either PG Converter ($8) or GraphicConverter ($30 shareware). I recommend GraphicConverter because it handles so many different types of formats and allows you to fix problems with your pictures before saving them for the Clie. It is also the best graphics conversion program out there, so you can use it for many other things besides putting pictures on a Clie.
Anyway, here are the basic steps:
Open your pic in GraphicConverter on the Mac.
To save disk space, scale the picture to get it approx the right size for the Clie screen, make sure color depth is 16 bit or less, and save the picture to your hard disk using PGPF Sony Clie format (if you want to change brightness or color, redeye, etc. do that before saving.)
Connect the Clie to the Mac with a Hotsync cable.
If you want the pic on a Memory Stick, mount the MS to the Mac desktop using MS Import (Clie utility).
Drag copy the .prc file to the PG Pocket folder on the Memory Stick.
Unmount the MS and disconnect the Clie. That's it!
If you do not have a Memory Stick, I believe you can install the .prc file to the Clie using Hotsynch's Install conduit, and that will work, too. You might be able to install the .prc file to the MemoryStick wioth Hotsync but I have not tried that.
Good luck!
