I was so looking forward to upgrading my Palm M515 with the newly released T5 but now, after reading all of the reviews and apparent deficiencies in this PDA, I think I may have to hold onto my trusted M515 until Spring of next year to see what Palm has in store for us next.

I remember when I upgraded to the Palm M515 in the first place. Lots of excitement in the air...This time, I just feel bummed out...Maybe I should buy myself a new VAJA wallet for my Palm M515...Maybe I'll feel better.

As for switching to PPC...No chance...If I want to carry around my desktop with me, I'll buy a laptop.

I agree with you. Although the T5 looks like a nice device. It all depends in what you want. If the T5 has everything you want in it why not get it. However if it is lacking in features that you need/want then I agree with you wait until spring to wee what new devices are out. Like you, I want to upgrade. I'm not sure what I want and I know I'm not in dire need of a replacement so I will wait to see what the next 3-4 months bring us. :)

If by that time the T5 ends up being the best solution for me I will likely pick it as my replacement. By then the price may go down and then paying extra for WiFi won't be as bad (I assume the WiFi cards will work in it). I'm new to the WiFi concept and have considered this as a possibility for using on a palm. However I had also considered the idea of using bluetooth. But like WiFi I don't know hardly anything about it. I do know that with both I will need to buy other stuff I don't own to use either.

I hope this helps brighten your day. I too was a bit discouraged from all the T5 discussion. I don't think I have read but a fraction of the posts though. Since there were so many of them by the time I saw the threads. I usually try and check for stuff I'm interested it reading every day but I don't think the T5 threads got my attention until they had more than 2 dozen posts each :)

Why don't you guys just get a T3? It is a better PDA at $100 less than the T5 with more features. The OS is stable and the WiFi works now if you want it. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I've been watching the posts here for a long time. Try to put things in perspective. When the T3 came out I saw posts with similar frustration from users wanting more, having problems with the software, and other compatability problems. I was like you. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My M-125 and M515 had both been flawless. I waited six months and purchased the T3 and have never looked back. The T5 may be the same. New things seem to have glitches. Maybe give them some time to work things out. It shouldn't be that way, but it seems the the norm.

DeanDC10, if it wasn't for the form factor of the T3 (I hate the slider and the thickness) I would have bought a T3 long ago.

T3-2, you make some very good points. Was there similar criticism about the M515 when it was first introduced? How did you adjust to the thicker form factor of the T3 and slider design in contrast to the slim and solid form of the M515? You say you never looked back but don't you miss the form factor of the M515?

StoneRyno, are you presently using an M5xx?

I just ordered the T5, should be here on Tuesday. I had a T3, but the slider just drove me crazy. I went to a Clie TH55, which is nice, but had a lot of bells and whistles I didn't want/need. I won't use wi-fi on it, and definitely didn't need the camera, and the proprietary Clie organizer software was interesting, but made me blind using it.

All-in-all, the T5 seems to do everything that I want it to do. And, the possibility of using it with the Stowaway bluetooth keyboard is interesting.

Cheers,
Leo

Dean:

When reading this thread I saw the link to your Bluetooth set-up page. I never thought of syncing via Bluetooth before, and you just gave me a great idea. Thanks for all the work in doing the page. I'm about to do the nasty deed this week and upgrade my IBM T40 to SP2, and then I'll get the Belkin adapter and install it and try the new T5 on it.

Cheers,
Leo

Palmster, to be honest, if I had not needed more RAM, I would not have made the move. I work in medical investigations and I carry several refence data bases, including epocrates (2+MB). Most will not run from a SD card.

The form factor took a little getting used to, but now I have no problems. Iguess I am one of the few people who actually like the D-pad. I can take or leave the slider, but I do use the larger screen.

When the M515 came out it was supposed to fix the poor color screen of the M505 and add another 8MB of RAM. Some people were not impressed. Then the SUDS problem. Before that was the M130 color screen SNAFU.

Like I said, it shouldn't be that way, but it seems to be P1's MO.
