First, just want to thank everyone in the forum... the posts here are very informative, and really helped me in setting up my NX70.

I couldn't seem to find similar discussions in this forum, does anyone know the answer to these questions?

1. I installed Zlauncher onto my Memory Stick, with the Theme in RAM - It appears that zlauncher is working, but whenever I try to select an application that is either on the memory stick or the CF Card (used the hack driver from the sticky in this forum), zlauncher displays a 'please wait' logo, then goes right back to zlauncher (ie. apps won't launch) - this only happens with apps that is not in RAM. Is this normal?

2. When my battery is at 35%, a message is displayed saying that I can't use the CF slot due to low battery level - is there a way to avoid the deactivation of the CF slot? I use the CF slot mainly for MP3s, and with the CF slot shutting down at 35%, the already short battery life gets even shorter...

3. I found this GuineaPig emulator (PC Engine, Genesis, SMS) and tried running it - however, the key mapping seems to be mesed up - does anyone actually use this emulator to run roms? Is there a key-remapping utility/hack for the NX series?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You should copy the ZLauncher to RAM, and run it from there... it never happened to me, but i've always run zlauncher from ram, try it and tell us what happened.

I've never seen a workaround for this, but buying the extended batery for your NX, find it, it gives you a complete charge out of 4 AA batteries, and then you can use your clie more time.

I copied zlauncher to RAM and it seems to run fine... my next project is to figure out if I can get zlauncher to run an app directly from a memory card or to get it to copy a group of files to RAM before running (associated database doesn't seem to get copied to RAM)...

Instead of buying an extended battery, I bought an extra charge cable on ebay, so I have a charger with my clie everywhere I go now... its a bit of a pain, but can be tolerated...

In ZL, should be this simple moving apps and dbs to ram:
Hold the stylus over an icon for an app for few seconds, a menu appears... select MOVE TO CARD...
You will get a few choices:
Card's Name
Path (I've left it to defeault .../ZLauncher/Apps/
and what is selected is Related Databases (and only if larger that 0 KB
and Create a shortcut.
I have left always use these rules off..

HTH

PS You should know that programs do not run off directly from the MS, they are always copied into ram (that will explain any slight delay) and then the dbs are copied back to the MS (again another slight delay); there is a program called msmount which fools the PDA into thinking those programs are in RAM (used mostly with programs not VFS aware)

OH, I see... I always thought that programs were ran directly off the MS or CF because there seems to be less of a wait-time (in fact, there's no lag at all!) when accessing them through the standard launcher (i.e. not zlauncher). I was also having problems with softwares that are already on the MS - e.g. Columns has an associated database, and I can access it on the MS with the standard launcher, however, with ZLauncher (w/o doing the "Move to card" step), it only copies the main program and will not run (missing file). I guess I'll go back to all the programs that won't work, put them in RAM, then move them with ZL, as that would seem to work.

I was fooling around with MS mount for awhile too (mainly for Mapopolis) - I guess I was a bit too greedy, I tried to access a number of connected map and got a out of heap memory error... now my mapopolis won't run at all, I'll have to reinstall that.

Thanks for your explaination on ZL!

Personally, I keep ZLauncher, Datebk5 and any system management and display related apps on RAM. This way if my card bugs out, I have only momentarily lost non-essential apps.

I have also found that when I load new apps, it is works best for me to first install them on RAM and then move them to the SD card, there is no technical reason to do so, it is just easier that way.
