Hi
I am seeing a crash on my clie when I try to access an apointment via the little seach button on the status bar. If I search for an apointment: say "mum" to finds mums birthday it appears in the search results list, if I then tap on the entry it goes to a blank white screen, the menu button on the status bar still works and brings down the datebook menu so behind the white screen is the datebook. If I try and do anything from there it goes to a locked up reset screen.
Is this just me or is this a common problem ?

Don't have a definitive answer for you, but I also had crashes during a search and it turned out to be too little memory available. As I recall, my MS was too full of MP3's. Once I cleaned some things out, it worked fine. Had the same problem when trying to open a .DOC file.

Hope that helps.

mine crashes in the while searching my appointments. it shows it is looking in datebook and then promptly does nothing.:( it doesn't matter how long i leave it running.

i have completely blown out everything (hard reset) and still have the problem. if the rest of the machine weren't so great i would junk it.:p

The bug can be in the Palm OS5 operating system.

The bug can be in the Palm OS5 operating system.

Wouldn't it be duplicatable then? Maybe the answer is in what other programs are being used and how they interact with OS5. And I'm not sure how a full MS can affect searches. Full RAM, sure, but I've searched lots of times with a maxed out 128MB stick installed, and no problems......

The Palm OS5 does have bugs, but I don't remember them. OS5.2 is suppose to fix them. What I meant to say, there is a possibility of such.

The one fellow said he hard reset his unit and it still does it. Now I take that to mean he has nothing else on it.

I do know a lot of users have had issues with the search.

i started getting this lockup thing a couple of weeks ago. the only thing i can figure out is that the datebook database is somehow corrupted. i have done a hard reset and with nothing on it the find works fine (doesn't find anything - naturally, but it runs through all the programs)

if i sync my handheld and select to only sync the database with entourage (mac version of outlook) i can now hang the system on every find. this is without anything else on the handheld. if i do a hard reset and sync everything but the datebook the sync works fine.

since it seems to be a problem with a database that became corrupted on the handheld, the hard reset and reinstall should fix it. however, since it does not, i would conclude that the problem is with os 5 taking exception to something in the datebook database.

hopefully 5.2 will fix this problem. with sony's usual os updating speed i figure that patch should be out around the time i buy the new clie with the breakfast making option builtin.:p

there is a prog out named dbscan.prc it scans for errors in the Datebook and tries to correct them. Originally written for the DateBk-Series it maybe help you out. If you can't get it. email me then I'll send it to you..

By the way, how do I log in at the forum the same time I write my reply? It doesn't work the way for like it should. Is it my Mozilla browser?

dbscan I thought came with Datebook-5.

To log in, I go to the home page to do it. It's never worked for me if I login at the sametime as I reply. I am using Internet Explorer.
