Does anyone know how to disable the UX50 camera besides putting a wad of paper in the lens? My company does not want PDAs or phones with cameras. Is there a hardware or software hack? The apps that operate the camera are in ROM.

vivomobile.de locks the camera internally with a orange block.

And you told them it has one?!
The only hardware hack I know of involves a - well - hacksaw. I don't see how a "software hack" (which can be deleted/deinstalled/disabled) would convince anyone it was "safe".
What I'd do is rotate the lens back into the UX50 body, and show then how the camera app is now disabled, as you only get a black screen instead of a photo. Note if you have a r-e-e-a-l savvy MIS or Security person, you may have to draw a fake lens on the UX50 with a Sharpie.

Try this application called AppLock, this is what I use:

Or you can use this application program that hides any ROM program from any launcher called SharkROM, made by our very own SharkBoy! I use it to hide the Welcome Program of my UX. :)

First thing is to get actual input on what will satisfy your companies policies/concerns. Obviously tape over the Lens or rolling it into the hidden position addresses nothing. If your company says NO CAMERAS, they mean NO CAMERAS. If they say PDAS with CAMERAS MUST HAVE A WAD OF GUM OVER THEM, then that is another deal entirely. Obviously you need to decide the value of your job. Anyone with a UX50 wont get away with "Oh, It had a camera in it? I wondered what that was!" Anything that can be done to temporarily disable the camera, is just that, temporary. A temporary solution is no different then telling kids they cannot bring guns to school , but it is ok if they have a trigger lock and leave the key in their pocket AT ALL TIMES!. Which means you can re-enable the camera at anytime and use it. Exactly what they do not want. Maybe its time to get yourself a cheap Palm off ebay, or find another job. It is really all up to you.
