Does anyone know when the MS Pro release date? Is anyone selling the stick in advance? Has sony put out the driver for the MS Pro? I have been surfing the net, the best deal I found is $269 for 512 MB, not too bad.

Where did you find that deal? At that price, I'd be willing to pick up two 512MB sticks!

Under search type in "Memory stick pro"

Nextag price search
512MB http://tinyurl.com/7fjr $ 270 - $ 440
Reseller Rating for B&H http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1914.html
1GB http://tinyurl.com/7fjw $ 640 - $ 880
So lets see, 128MB @ $45 each *4 = $180. So that means $100 premium for convenience.
If it drops to $235 I will jump.

the NX will get a patch to enable MS Pro support around about the release time of the MS Pro's themselves....... there is a compatability chart out there somewhere that I saw but for the love of god can I find it again?!?!..
........... maybe it was in an old copy of T3 magazine??

Good Grief! Japan is never cheap for these things. Released next Friday for...
256M 17,800 yen = 150 dollars
512M 39,800 yen = 335 dollars
1G 79,800 yen = 673 dollars
From Sakuraya and Yodobashi Camera, which means I'll get 10% of the price back in points on my store card. That makes the 512M card equal to about 300 dollars. So I'd say 269 dollars is more than not too bad!

You can see the NX70v listed under the 'software upgrade required' list.

The software upgrade probably won't be out until April from what I can ascertain from Sony. Additionally, the devices that need the software driver, won't be able to take advantage of the higher speed of the MS Pro.
Bummer:mad:!

Which will come first, MS Pro + support OR the CF driver.
What is the highest speed for MS Pro? For the fast CF, it is up to 6MB/s sustained.
If the CF driver arrives first, then I would skip MS Pro.
From memory, the high speed of MS Pro is more a marketing ploy than actually being faster than existing standards. The high speed CF and SD can handle 30fps video at VCD or VGA quality. We don't need some overpriced MS Pro to do that.
So, what are the cheapest prices for large capacity CF at present? By large, I mean 1GB and above.
We should be looking out for cheap high speed large capacity CF. Please share.

MS Pro will not be any faster for the older Sony's that need the software driver. The source of this info is Sony. In other words, don't expect any speed increases for our NX's, not sure about the NZ90.

Are you sure? According to http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/news/mspromedia.html the NX70, NX60, and over 100 Vaio computers are listed as being compatible after software upgrade.
Then read the note:
NOTE: With the software update, VAIOŽ computers will be compatible with MS-Pro High Capacity, but not be compatible to take advantage of MS Pro High Speed capability.
Doesn't say anything about NX70/NX60.
I interpret this optimistically :)

The NX will be totally 100% MSPro compliant and allow the faster xfer rates!!!

Optimistic, yes.
Realistic?
Not likely.
A software patch won't change anything about hardware limitations and bus speed. It will just tell the device that it can look for larger amounts of memory on that I/O slot. Won't change the speed at all. So all you are paying for is convenience.

The NX/NZ has the newer MS Chipsets to allow the MSPro to work properly along with the 717 Camera and some Vaio PC's/Laptops......... at the moment these CLIE models just require the full flavour driver.... that's all folks!!

Hey guys, I do work for sony, and I know for a fact that no items that sony sell currently will get the faster transfer speeds do to lack of hardware installed. The Software patch will however make the reconize the items, but not the increase speed. The only item that will really work are the card readers that are out now that are USB 2.0 compliant. Ive also heard no clies, or any other items will support the faster speed for another year or so...

Which card readers? All I'm seeing are the older MSAC-US1 models, and they were not on the original list of compatible hardware that was released a few months back.

The models are...
MSAC-US20 The Memory Stick USBb Adapter
MSAC-US70 The New Memory Stick Mouse
These will be the only models for time being that will support high speed...
