Hi, where I live I can only choose between a CDMA phone or a PCS phone (no GSM) .
Which would be easier to find a phone driver for: CDMA phone or PCS phone?

um, okay, looking at the deluge of response on this question, maybe I ought to modify it a little?
--> Which is worse? CDMA or PCS?
or
--> Is it even possible to find an SMS driver for CDMA (or PCS)?
a little ray of hope would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I am unfamiliar with cdma bt phones... except for sprint pcs SE 608 or a motorola with crippled BT, perhaps the Treo650 in the near future...
Are there CDMA phones in S.Korea with 'un'crippled Bluetooth?

Cdma phones should work with palmOS (at least you can get the same speed a pcs can get). CDMA is much more suitable for sending data (cdma reaches 144 kbps, versus 9.8kbps a pcs (using gsm-- dialup) phone).

WOW! I'm so glad that someone said something!
I'm not sure what "un"crippled versus Crippled BT is ???
I think the bluetooth module for the 2 BT cell phones sold in Korea is bt 1.1
Is this the crippled or uncrippled variety?
One of the 2 BT cell phones sold in Korea is CDMA, the other is PCS.
We don't have the SE 608 or most other imported brands, so when I see the phone types in postings, i actually have no idea what those phones are (we have Samsung, SK sky, LG phones and a few Motorolas, and the phones Samsung sells here versus abroad seem to be a bit different).
once again, thank you so much for putting a reply up there . . . i sorta felt like i was left hanging for a moment there (and sorely tempted to double post in another forum if you know what i mean! whew I am so glad i didn't cave into that temptation since a response was on the way!) . . .

OK, let me explain... the motorola v710 isn't necessarily crippled per se but LACKS the modem/data profile, and the PUSH profile (i believe) the ability to transfer pix/files... so to US gsm users with SE or Nokia phones, the BT is crippled because IT CANNOT do what other phones can (and what users want)
But perhaps in S.Korea the v710 could have more BT profiles than in the USA.

cdma and pcs are essentially one in the same. cdma is the macro description, pcs is simply a band within cdma.
for data transfer speeds, it really depends on what your particular carrier is offering.
in south korea, there are good carriers for both.
