Has anyone found a good voice-to-text translator for PalmOS pda? I figured that since there are more powerful OS 5 ARM based clies and T|T's out there, someone might have developed one by now? I know HealthcareOne has for some time been offering a voice-to-text transcription service using the Handera 330 pda. Of course, they use "human" transcribers to do the work:

However, I'm looking for a true pda based voice-to-text recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking. (http://www.scansoft.com/). Unfortunately, AFAIK scansoft only supports (http://www.scansoft.com/naturallyspeaking/support/compatibility/) PPC and linux devices with their software. Does anyone have any ideas?

Actually, if you already have Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you can get a standard wire from Radio Shack and hook it up the the microphone input on your computer. I just tried this yesterday, and the speech-to-text works perfectly with the voice recorder. You may have to make a new voice file using the NX70 though.
Not quite the same thing as having a speech-to-text directly on your palm, but this works amazingly well.

Interesting. So have you actually tried playing the voice recording from the NX70 into mic input of you PC? Is it possible to somehow just transfer to voice recording file to the PC so Naturally Speaking can translate it directly? Sorry for all the q's but I do not have the Dragon software to fiddle with it myself.
Thanks

As far as I know, there isn't a way to just transfer the file and get it transcribed. But playing the voice recording into the mic input works beautifully. The only hitch is, you have to spend 15-20 minutes beforehand training the software to recognize your voice on the recordings. Small setback, if at all, I think.
