Not a whole lot to say other than I still belive both platforms have their strong points and weaknesses (not something we didn't already know-right?).

You guys have most likely heard about the specs on the ipaq 4705 and I'll tell this thing is amazing and that I have the same feeling I had when I purchased the NX80 (And still believe the NX series with it's twist screen is a wonderful device.

Palm1 let me down as I belive in "Zen" to a certain extent, but I still want a choice and Sony gave us choices

I just wish Sony would continue to inovate ... here... in the USA (Sony definitely knew what was up and so I'm taking a que).

Palm1 not including wifi in it's newest machine was a mistake and I wanted more than what the TH55 could deliver in terms of speed (they almost had it right).

I wanted the vga screen, speed and plenty of it, both BT and WIFI and 2 media slots avalable for storage and or accessories and now I have it.

Mine Ipaq cost 550, but as I mentioned it was a gift and I was do for a new toy anyway!

I would have bought it for myself anyway.

One of my other gifts is the new HP 8450 network printer with BT so I did good this b-day! :)

And by the way "Thank You" to the staff for the Happy B-day wishes.

I will continue to use my NX80 as there is la earning curve when one ventures into the "Darkside" especially after using the palm platfom for so long and there is bound to be software I can't replace or things I can't do with the new machine (at least not right away).

Most of you I expect to run into over here from time to time and others I expect to see in the ppc forums.

Well, good luck to everyone- palm and ppc users alike!

So long Stronggeek. I mostly just read the posts here and try to learn. I have enjoyed your postings from Cliesourse to 1src. Just wanted to say that I have garnered much info from your inputs on this forum. I hope you enjoy your new toy :)

Hi kaysclie and mackrack5.

Thanks for your well wishes and kind words!

I doubt I'll ever completely leave this forum.

I'm just spreading my wings a little and checking out the other side.

I'm still using my NX80, just not as much.

I'm still hoping that Palm1 or some other Palm lincensed company can kick out a new model next year to peak my interest once again!

I can ebay either one of these units if I need to. :)

But until then I'm still here and in ppc forums with both units.

After extensive experience with both, I sill see distinct advantages and disadvantages with both.

Anyway, thanks again and have a great weekend!

I made my change from a Newton MP130 to the NX70V and shortly thereafter to the NX80V and the posts of Stronggeek were an influence as well as all of the original Cliesource gang.

Ya' know. . .I STILL like:

The Clamshell swivel form factor.

The backlit keyboard, which I use as much as the graffiti.

The miserable little camera - It has been there for pictures that I would not otherwise have had a camera for.

The dual MS and CF slots - I have a wonderful Agfa camera that uses SM cards and I use a CF-to-SM adapter to transfer the pics to my Clie. Couldn't have done it without Cliesource.

The connectivity:

I VNC into my PC and my Macs via Palm VNC over WiFi; Connect to the internet via my SE T616 with the Sony BT MS and sync my PC and my Macs via BT Hotsync.

There is always a small bit of manipulation to accomplish things with a Palm device, but it is that need. . . and the creativity that springs from it, that has always kept me solidly planted in the Palm platform.

Regardless, gongrats on your new device. Free is always the acceptable price of secession!
