So far with what I see, with no wifi or G1 capability on the T5, this trend is viewed as your not listening to consumers. I have a T3 which I've had for a year now. The battery is dwindled down to about an hour useful time.

PalmOne, unless you appear with a model with WiFi AND G1 AND a replaceable battery, I will end up regressing, by dusting off my old Handera. At least I will be able to do all this, (unfortunately in greyscale). This will happen soon, as the battery is in sad shape. The T5 IMHO is not the way to be moving forward in the world PalmOne....

I have been using my T3 on all day on and off the cradle/sync cable since last November and as far as i can tell, there is no difference what so ever in battery performance?.. How come your battery only gives you an hours use on full charge?... The battery's in the T3 arent susceptible to memory effect are they?...

You are correct... it is true that there is no memory effect, it has just slowly dropped from about 3hrs use between charges to 1hr since purchase. (I have done the recommended in-cradle reset too.) I run it on battery approx 2 hrs actual "on" time and this is twice a day, every day. Not now of course. (I have a 2hr commute via train one-way to work.)

Krispy, before you toss your T3, you should read this thread: http://discussion.brighthand.com/palmhandhelds/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63927 , you can make your T3 into 5 hour pda.

LOL, I'm not tossing it. I'm waiting for a direct replacement battery, even if it is the same one. I've searched high and low and apparently the one inside is licensed to PalmOne only and you can't buy a direct replacement. I read the thread you sent, but I really don't want to make mods, I just want to swap out the bad and replace with the good.

I did not quite understand your post, if you are looking for direct battery replacement than you can find it at http://www.palmbattery.com/index.html or http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Session_ID=41697B950007BA49000020D900000000&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PA1382&Category_Code=BATT , but if you have one on order and waiting to recieve it, than you can just ignore above links.

Yea no G1. I've tried installing it, it just won't boot up. Grr!

Wonder if Tealscript will work?

Li-on batteries supposedly don't have the memory effect, but I've read somewhere that they do lose capacity with time due to the chemical reactions inside (some estimates had upwards of 33% per year). I haven't independently verified this nor can I really offer any kind of anecdotal commentary since I haven't ever come close to testing the capacity of any of my devices. (Plus I've never had a device long enough to test this. :) )

Tealscript can get you closer to G1, though even after trying it (and buying it), I still prefer the native G1 to it. Maybe I didn't take enough time to "tune" the app properly. I'm getting used to G2 ever so slowly (still don't like it as much, but at least I'm starting to write G2 strokes instead of reverting back to 5 years of habit).

Lithium ion batteries degrade over time, my thinkpad li-ion battery is dead now (the thinkpad is from 2002). I had it on the charger constantly but I don't think the battery really liked that. When you discharge/charge your battery regularly it prolongs its life (at least that's my experience).

I completely agree about the G2 sentiments. I had my T3 for only one day and I felt helpless entering any text. This is after four previous models with G1. If only there was some way to install G1 Libraries over the existing G2 ones ;) It made a huge difference with my feelings about the T3.
