I know that since Sony discontinued the TH55 worldwide, not too many accessories are being produced. Has anyone found a clear cover for it? I would love to be able to read ebooks with the cover closed. In the right light, it can be done with the OEM cover, but it darkens it too much to read in bright light.

How about:

I don't know much about it, just a suggestion.

Yeah, I saw that, but they call it "semi-transparent" and I don't want to blow $18 to find out it's no better.

Civicboi,

I'm not sure I follow what you mean. You got a NX80 from CompUSA and you're going to put it on a TH55 as a cover? Or am I totally misunderstanding your post?

Do you know any engineering students? Could get them to fab one out of a bit of acrylic or something - It's surprisingly easy :)
(The hardest part is the bloody screw holes, and getting the screws in and out, that and polishing the darn thing...)

Wouldn't be as durable as the poly-carb one that comes with the TH55 (Unless they have some poly-carb just lying around that they can use.... unlikely) but it would be a good custom job ;)

Well the cover I put on fit almost perfect!
Its Fellow's brand, so unlike belkin theres not stupid logo on it.

oh sorry. . .
i got TH55
and put on the NX80 screen cover. . . fits fine.
theres only mm difference, but i think they prolly do that on purpose.

civicboi, I think they're talking about the plastic flip cover, not screen protectors. Anyway, I rememeber an online store selling a completely clear replacement flip cover for the TH55. I think it was SurplusPDA. Not sure though.

I was in a coffee shop in Seoul, Korea, a few weeks ago and saw a girl using a TH55 with a crytal clear flip cover on it. The cover had the Clie logo written on the bottom of it, but not in such a way that it would obscure the screen.
This looked really official to me as opposed to being fabbed independantly by the owner. This leads me to think that maybe a model was released in Japan with a clear cover (a portion of the CLie's sold here in Korea are inported from Japan and have the Japanese OS).

All semi-transparent flip covers for TH55 are now priced at $13.99 each and Global Source still has the free shipping option good within the US.

TH55 Accessories from Global Source (http://www.glblsrc.com/shop/customer/search.php?substring=th55)

Cheers!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement flip cover exactly like the one that comes with the TH? Because I'd like it to be sturdy like the poly-carb, I don't have any color preferences.:D

Sony sells the original flip cover for ~$55.00. Search the forums, someone has purchased one from sony and posted info..

OK. It's been a while since this thread was active. But now, about a year and a half later, I'm looking for a crystal clear flip cover for my TH55 with no luck. I remember when I first bought my TH55 in the spring of 2004, there was an abundance of covers and other accessories at Global Source.com but now they only have the (semi transparent)red and green ones. Does anyone know where I can find a crystal clear flip cover? Or is it too late? I tried the links mention here, I also tried ebay with no luck. Thanks so much.

I still have 2 brand new Clear flipcovers (with clear plastic screen protector still on it) and can sell one to you with a tri-blade screwdriver to remove the old plate for the same price as the red and green one that you can get from Global Source PDA, which is $13.99 + $4.30 shipping = $18.29. Just PM me if you are interested.

BTW, you can use that screwdriver for removing the battery cover when you want to replace the battery too. A very useful tool for TH55 do it yourself owner. Consider today is your lucky day that I read this post. I'll reserve it for a week for you before someone else snatches it off my hand. ;)

Is it the shinny crystal clear or the dull tanslucent? I'm looking for something as shinny as the stock flip cover but crystal clear.

Also, what is the most compatible type (reg, duo, pro) of memory stick to buy for the TH55?

No, it is flat, not clear glossy. I still can see through my screen clearly, just like some of the screen protectors with glare reduction coat. I haven't seen any of those clear glossy ones ever. Just let me know if you are not interested so someone else can get it.

All MS Regular, Pros and Duos work fine with TH55s. I have all types of MS and use 1GB Duo with adapter in my TH55 too so I can go back and forth between it and my Sony camera (DSC-T33). The Duo adapter is a little harder to get it in and out of TH55. I usually just leave the adapter in TH55 and pull the Duo out of the adapter. It is as easy as the regular size MS Pro that way and you don't lose the adapter.

I'll pass on the cover...thanks anyway.

With the memory sticks, they're all the same speed? If so, I guess it's best to get the regular(cheapest) one? Like you said, it depends on other Sony devices you own. I'm planning on getting a Sony Erricson cellphone which has a Micro MS slot. Now the micro is a completely different animal, so purchasing a regular MS for my TH55 is still fine, correct?

EDIT...DanT, no need to respond since I got your answer on the other thread!! Sorry. Thanks so much

Like I said, go for the cheapest one and whatever suit you best. Regular size MS, MS Select, MS Pro, MS Duo, all work fine up to 2GB. Of course the regular MS can only go up to 128MB. MS Select has 256MB with 128MB/side and a switch in the back to switch sides, which a great paint in the you know what.
