Am I the only one who feel ripped off by the fact that my remote control software on my NX-70V only has settings for TV, Video and DVD???

............ the manual clearly states AMP and AV equipement but this is missing!!!!....

Anyone else missing this object or is it just me??.... :(

AV-AMP is on mine and yes, your limited to 4 devices. It didn't bother me as I use a real remote. Some use their clie's remote more as a play toy. There are a few past threads discussing RMC issues. You'll find that the range is very short too!

Look under menu, details, one of the components may have been erased. All four have to be there as it's ROM.

The biggest single ommission that would make RMC a worthwhile app is the lack of DSS/Cable receiver support. TiVo would also be cool (especially since Sony have a TiVo box).

Most cable boxes over here use IrDa so a clie would be grate if only someone done the softwear

this is weird then??...... I my unit is only 7 weeks old and a UK model..... I am running CLIE RMC Version 1.3 according to the 'about' screen.....

Using ZarfCatalog to view the files in ROM I have CLIE RMC, CLIE RMC_deDE and CLIE RMC_frFR which I assume are just French and German.................... no other files............... as RMC is a ROM app and not loaded into RAM I don't see how I can be missing anything?!?!

My unit is a NX70V/E which is for the European market..maybe the US model is different??

Guess I need to call Mr Sony and hang around the telephone for a few hours to see if they know anything (unliely!!)

Anyone got anymore ideas??

there is a yahoo group called RMC Enhancer or something like that, that has new device codes so you can control more devices. I haven't looked into it too thoroughly but it looked interesting. let me see if I can find the link

Doesn't have the cable box definition I was hoping for, but the information needed is there. I might also now be able to get my Australian Sony A/V AMP working (10 years old, still kicking along - running on a 220V to 110V step down converter :))

I have a UK model NX70V/E too and I've had it for less than a week. Mine's only got 3 devices and no amp option available. Looks like it's a UK model problem then?

use Omniremote, for it is learning from the original one and the newest version makes it really great! supporting JogDial.

Only shortcoming on what is otherwise a good product.

Been onto Sony support and here was their response....

For Model PEG-NX70V/E the only options available should be TV, DVD and VCR.

The fact that AMP/AV is mentioned in the manual is purely a typo and should be ignored.................

So there is the official line..... he said the US model should be the same but was not 100% sure...... and the NR has received a few updates that may have added this option at a later date..

So there you have it..........

Been to the forum mentioned in the above threads and it would seem that it is possible to install the AMPDef.prc file to get this object enabled in Sony RMC on the NX70V/E

Here are the steps..
1 - Use windows explorer and MSImport to copy the attached file onto your memory stick
2 - Use FileZ to copy the file from the Memory Stick to the internal memory for the device..

... et voila you now have AMP capability on the European version on RMC..... using the RMC Enhancer tool from the forum link download it is also possible to modify all the existing Def files to add, remove, change buttons and backgrounds etc...

... all good fun..

I purchased a NX73V (european version) a week ago, and it hasn't got the ampdef.prc either (DVD, TV and VCR are in ROM).

Where can I download the AMPdef.prc to give it a try?

Thanks!

You should subscribe to the RMC enhancer group in yahoo groups, there you will get what you are looking for. I - unfortunately- didn't, for I use a Denon AMP and nobody knows the codes for it...

I'm already a member of the RMCEnhancer group, but there are currently no amp-definitions to download :(

I'm actually looking for the original AMPdef.prc, that seems to be shipping with some, but not all Cliés. Because I've got a Sony-amp, I hope this original definition might work with my amp... So, again my question: Who has the file on his Clié and can upload it to ClieSource or knows of any location where to download it?

Thanks again!

Got lucky!

I just checked back to the RMCEnhancer group to see if there were some new definitions - there weren''t. Browsing through the files I noticed a section called "Sony PRC files" (dunno why I didn't see this one before).

There are three zip-archives with the original Sony US RMC-defintions of T615C, T665C and NR70. All of these include the AMPdef.prc I was looking for!
Tried the one from the T665C-file and hotsynced it to my european NX73V, and wow - it works!

I just had to change to mode 2 for my old Sony STR-DE325. Mode 3 works flawlessly with my newer (Dolby Digital) Sony STR-DE485E amp.

I only wished the RMC amp-screen had some more buttons (tuner channel-change, surround-mode selection etc.), but I'm going to play a little with the RMCEnhancer software and maybe I'll manage to create these myself.

Clué (happy with his new all-in-one remote!!)
:D

I've got the AMP definition for my NX70V/E

I successfully dl'ded then opened with winrar and hotsync'ed it to my clie

The next time I opened rmc it said new definition added! But heres the thing

When I go to new entry, the catergory is blank!!! It broke my RMC, now I have to try and delete it which I dont think i can do as it is read only :(

OK it wont let me delete the definition even whilst on warm reset :( anyone got any ideas?!

Did you try to delete it with CLIÉ Files or some other filemanager-app? That worked for me...

I had the same problems with the AMPdef.prc from the NR70-archive but was able to delete it with a filemanager. Try the one from the T615C-archive, it works fine on my NX73V.

Nice one! Just followed the leads posted in this thread (T665 archive & Filez) and have got the AMPdef.prc working on my Sony MDC-373 bookshelf CD/MD player. I just wish there was also a 'play' button on the selection...

"CLIE Files" doesn't allow to change file attributes, sorry I didn't check that before posting :o

Try another filemanager (I'm using the one built into ZLauncher) and uncheck the "read-only" flag before deleting the file.

Any chance there's a learn program like most universal remotes you can buy?
I'd like to use it for the XBox in my car cause the dvd remote for the xbox is humangous by car-remote standards . . . .

duuuuh i forgot that zlauncher had a file manager, so I've deleted the definition. Has anyone got any of the AMP definitions to work with European clie?
If so let me know ;)

The AMPdef.prc's from the files DefaultUS665Defs.zip and DefaultUS615defs.zip (downloadable from Yahoo's RMCEnhancer Group as mentioned in previous posts) both work fine on my european NX73V.

Before I hotsync AMP def, it tells me the file is 100k, and then when I go to delete it, after it messes up my remote it says it is only 1k!

clué

I think this is the case because the hotsync wasn't able to put the file correctly on your Clié in the first place (strange though). Had the same problem with the AMPdef from the NR70-archive... Have you tried the other AMPdef's?
