Did you try calibrating your digitizer?
Soft reset?
Hard reset?
Let us know.

tried hard reset, soft reset, and another hard reset. can't get past where you caliberate the digitizer at the startup screen because the left half doesn't want to accept taps by the stylus. very frustrating! never had any problems with my clie until this. it was working fine last night... i did clean it recently though, but with just a dab of water and a paper towel. any thoughts?

Sounds like the internal connector for the digitizer has come loose.  If it's still under waranty the get it repaired.  If not and you feel competent to open the Clie, the you could do so and see if the connector as moved (i.e. re-seat it).

Oops.  Missed the part about a dab of water.  So sorry, you're screwed.  Actually, if it is water damage, you'll find that Sony's waranty doesn't cover this.  You didn't happen to get a piece of  the cloth under the edge of the bezel did you?  It is possible that something got stuck under there and that will cause the digitizer not to react normally or at all in certain areas.

Let it dry out good and say your prayers. Water intrusion is not conducive to the clie, as you may now realize. Sorry, I feel for you man :(.

if anyone's interested:

i contacted sony about the problem and they are going to send me out a box so i can ship my NX to them and they can take a look at it. i'll keep you guys informed on what happens. i'll just have to chalk this up to a life lesson i suppose. i didn't think a little water would hurt it because i just wiped it down very quickly and dried it right after. oh well! the worst that can happen is i'll have to pay to get it fixed i guess. thanks for the support, and FU to anyone who was rude or laughed. i didn't come to this GD forum to be laughed at! =D

Next time RTFM. I think it was covered in there ;)

As a good rule of thumb,

water+electronics=bad

Seriously, we all make mistakes and learn from them. Chalk it up to a learning experience and don't beat yourself up over it.

tell me about it. trying not to let it bother me, but it is making me sick. well i am about to get my tax return money back.. i'm thinking of buying a palm tungsten. they run about 350 right?

i've been reading all the horror stories on here and it looks like sony will probably NOT fix it if they have some way of telling it's water damage.

here is the worst part i think. i have 7, yes count them 1234567, 128 memory sticks that are now going to be practically useless. if anyone wants to make me a deal of any (or all) of them just shoot me a reasonable price. best deal wins. i just want to wash my hands with sony really, even though it's my fault. i'll throw in the MS case with it, picture. email me at Nythalix@hotmail.com if interested. I'd probably be interested is selling the NX too (bad digitizer of course, water damage) but it is gunmetal if anyone's interested. i'm sure we can work out a fair deal! cheers
