I exchanged mi unit 3 times all ready and the first had very bad battery, with 100 % remaining battery after 3 pictures the power went down to 50%, the second unit had better battery, i got 7 hours in 100 % but the battery door had a big gap, now the third unit has bad battery again I can only take 20 pictures, after the 10 first ones the power gos down to 38%, waiting like a minute goes back to 75%, after 10 more pictures, the power goes to 34% an then never goes back.

I got 2 full drains to 0 %, but doesn't get better.

What should I do ???

At first I thought you were someone poking fun of me as that is almost what I went through. But its up to you. I would quit trying to drain it to 0%. maybe 10% is "safer".
On my 4th unit, I finally can last a whole day and take quit a few shots too.

exchange your nz for an nx and get yourself a sony camera; my sony 717 gives me 3 hours for taking pictures, maybe a little less if i frequent the flash a lot; sorry, but i think adding a heavy camera - even with flash - into a pda may sound good. but once you regard power consumption you have to take the consequences.

don't get me wrong i would love the have the "final" device which gives me everything - even phone. until such a device is available, i will stick with my 3 device combo:

> a mobile phone with enough power for a week of standby
> a pda which i can use throughout the day and which i usually
do not need to worry about as have in in the cradle at my desk
> a camera with enough power for really lots of pictures with
a even higher resolution

the nx's camera suits my needs for quick shots; what i would like to have would be built in bluetooth and exchangable batteries like with nz though.

Lucky you. I have the Sony 707. I want the 717 as I was one of those people who grumbled to Sony to fix the placement of the zoom keys. The other was Sony's reassurance that I can use memory cards bigger than 128mb. NOT. unless you consider the 128+128 cards. So I'm still bothered by that.

The 707 is still a very nice camera, I have been very happy with it. No biggie to carry a few extra sticks. Love it's night shot capability.

actually the nz90 is pda first and 2nd as a emergency camera. Its nothing when compaired to a 5mp camera.

Only if you need a 5MP camera; most people don't.

I do need a 5mp camera. I do photos. And I can take my camera anywhere that cameras are allowed. I never had a problem with the size. Even the NZ90 fits in my pocket. The 2mp that comes with the Sony would be used if I was just out shopping and needed a shot or someplace that I wasn't exspecting to have a camera.

regarding the 707/717 questions; i was just lucky as i did not want to buy another camera once the 707 came out; had just sold my old 505 and bought my girlfriend a p5;

now with the 717 being even cheaper than the 707 ist was a no brainer; i you guys get the change: sell the 707 and get a 717 or wait a little, there is always a new one coming out.

with the 717 it's a bit more than just the placement with the zoom keys; i use the zoom ring for all my zooming, much easier to handle. also i hope that the 717s ability to use memory stick pro will not only allow just having one stick (no changing sticks or switch on select) but it should have some speed improvements also which might make shorter intervalls between shots possible. i will keep you posted when i have tried it out.

Why wouldn't he be able to take his camera?
