I'd tried VZ90 in Biccamera in Shinjuku. I'm really want to buy it if I have money.

After tried on it, there are several selling points of VZ90:

1. OLED screen is REALLY "TOO" good. For same MQV files, screen is much sharper than TH55 and NZ90.

2. MediaLauncher (the new multi-media program) can read CF's MP3 and MQV files DIRECTLY! Doesn't like other CLIEs needs patch or using UX applications.

And it added support for MP4 format. I will try to host the demo of MP4 later if I have space. And quality of MP4 is quite good...

Although MediaLauncher can't combine MS/internal media/CF MP3 files to one list, it added back visualizer (only a little part on upper right hand corner when you are in main screen).

Bad points:
1. Size and weight is really a problem..

2. No Netfront 3.2. Still 3.1 (but newer than TH's). I think maybe we need to wait until OS6 for 3.2...

3. Only PalmOS's default launcher, CLIELauncher (no matter normal one on NX/NZ/TH or 3D version in UX) is missing in VZ90.

4. I can't find full screen playback button in MediaLauncher. I don't know it isn't supported full screen mode or just I'm too stupid... :p

No one knows...

I just can say this program can be run on other CLIEs. But this program fixed the resolution on 320x240 (NX/NZ/TH are in 240x320), so you can't get it to display correctly.

That should be 480x320 and 320x480. The resolutions you mentioned are used on PocketPC's...

Did you try VZ90? So bad that I haven't money to get it. I started to save money now, but maybe when I have such money, OS6 CLIE was out...

I also had a look at the VZ90, but price, size and weight make this device very unattractive to me. I can confirm that the screen is pretty good. However, they also displayed the Zaurus SL-Cxxx and it`s screen is not bad either. It`s not an OLED display (they call it CG Silicon whatever this should mean), but pretty good. I think that the VZ-90 is a step into the wrong direction. Only nerds and early adapters are ready to pay that much to have the latest and greatest. I assume that businessmen/women are not attracted by this device as it is too cumbersome to carry this `brick` around.

I guess you are right, the VZ is not for businessmen, UX50 would be the good choice, light, little, keyboard :)

By the way, please, it's "Mr" nerd, thanks...

when news of the VZ came out, i was really ready to buy it (having waited for a new clie ever since...)...

however, when i did get to toy with it - i dont think it is worth the price tag...

i mean, i could get a small sized notebook for almost the same price
at this point, it only supports ONE PHS communications card (inspite of previous Clie models being able to support many) - wrong direction here for sony (i feel that they should have put the needed drivers BEFORE releasing it), and im quite sure they turned down a lot of would-be customers
i both have TWO products from Sharp with the CG Silicon screen (the SH53 cellphone, and the SL-750C), and i agree with AndyJapan that there is ALMOST no difference from the VZ - i just cant get over what the fanfare is about this OLED
it is just TOO big, and TOO heavy
this is the FIRST OLED-based device from sony - and I DONT want to be SONY's guniea pig... hehehehe... maybe wait for the next release

i did make a post about an article i read in this month's Palm Magazine (check it out at Kinokuniya or other local bookshop), and Sony mention that the CLIE is more for entertainment rather than productivity, and to paraphrase the article, it does show in their latest offering...

PS: i also did mention in my post that the article stated that the VZ90 would be sony's last model for the year... hhhmmmmm....
