well, this can't be completely confirmed, but rumours are flying around and my wife, who works for Sony, said employees have been talking about this..
Get ready for this announcement any day. Just when we thought it couldn't get better...



This new sony is actually a 5 gb video/audio player, takes perfect 320 by 240 video, records in mp3 or atrac format, takes 800 by 600 pictures, built in bluetooth, built in wifi, built in gps, built in fm radio. It does not, however, have a separate CF slot, but will be compatible with MS Pro. It is not in the clamshell design...rather, they keyboard, which is FAR improved, pulls out from underneath when wanted. The keyboard lights up as well. I understand that pictures of the unit have started to leak, but I can't find any yet. Instead of the Netfront 3 Browser, it will include the Thunderhawk browser that has been very popular with pocket pc.

i have to believe this is unregistered bull$hit. sony isn't dumb enough to release an improvement over the nz and call it an ny are they? bt, wifi, gps AND and fm radio? 5GB and we'd need to buy a MS? for what?

I don't believe.

from a previous post, my predictions:

its gonna take some time for a 32mb CLie to be released, in my opinion.

they're not going to release a clie model with more ram than their top of the line NZ for at least another 6 months.

I'm predicting the next NX series will simply be an evolution of the current one, with a few minor enhancements.
Most likely:
1. keypad that lights up with better individual keys (from TG50 and chicklet keys from NZ) - I predict that the keypad will light up either a "white" or "blue" color, to make it look more classy than the TG50's dull yellow keypad light.
2. bluetooth (NZ and TG)
3. slightly higher resolution camera (but nothing that gets close to 2mp... don't want to take away sales from the NZ) Video recording will be improved to take advantage of the entire resolution of camera
4. 16mb (yes sadly I know but I'm pretty certain they are not gonna make a model that outshines the NZ anytime soon)
5. Better speaker capable of mp3 and video playback without headphones (from TG50 - similar to the one on the TT)
6. Power switch integrated with the hold button (following trend of SJ, TG, and NZ)
7. User replaceable battery (not too sure on this one, but why not? it be an extra thing for sony to be able to market and sell
8. Revamped CF slot (seeing as how a certain software company is going to be coming out with CF drivers for the NX and NZ line, sony will go ahead and re-vamp the CF slot and cripple it once more, causing users to wait for another 8 months until a new CF driver comes out.
9. KB-11 support, something that should have been built into the current NX series.
10. Upgraded Clie Viewer software, PIscel viewer, and Netfront built in, so they don't take up extra memory.
11. BUilt in support for landscape mode (there will be an arrow rotating landscape (widescreen) to standard view on the status bar) This will be done with sony's version of Palm OS 5.2.2


And thats all I expect. Nothing revolutionary, but still a nice step up from the current NX series. Its gonna still use the same stylus and connector. I'm probably gonna skip the TG50 and hold out for it when it comes out. The lack of a quality speaker on the current NX is holding me back...

Although the idea of a 320x480 device with a hidden keyboard that slides out does sound pretty sexy!

something like the mechanism on the nokia 7650 I suppose and hopefully NOT like the Zaurus (too big)

give me a break; that ny70 sound a bit to nice to be true; according to all the features mentioned it must be a brick of a device with battery power for not more than 30 minutes i suppose.

I don't put nothing past Sony, so I don't buy the argument that some new unit can't have better features than the NZ90.

Many have&nbsp;varied opinions as to what constitutes&nbsp;a perfect PDA. There is no one size fits all model, yet...

sony corp....onwards and upwards.....gotta have some of those shares...

Not everyone has NZ90 envy, and yes one day it will happen, just a matter of time. I am sure there are more new models to come, maybe not exactly as unregistered has described.

I am sorry. 5GB of storage, I don't see it. I am sure that Sony is perfectly willing to release that will outshine the NZ.

There is too much built into this new model, I mean Wifi, BT, GPS and radio and the 5GB storage, I don't think so, at least not with a Palm OS front. Nice idea, but too extreme.

sorry but no NZ envy here... i didn't make any faces. sounds like it's more than just a 200 upgrade as the flash forces you to buy at least 1 extra battery.

if i need a 2mp pic, you better believe i'm gonna have a lens that i can put filters on, maybe through a telephoto or a wide on it and really want to utilize it.

and blu2th has limited usefullness in my camp.

There has been talk of a Sony Vaio Tablet PC coming out soon with very similar specs to this (and that would certainly gel with the Thunderhawk browser reference).

None of you can actually think this is real, right? What sony does is tries out one new feature in each handheld. Then, when the time comes, they release a handheld with all those features. Sony has not even come close to something like that. 5GB? They don't even have a MS that has that capacity. There isn't even a CompactFlash Card that has 5gb. Only 3gb CF as of later this month. No way this is real.

Actually, I think a PDA like the Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 would be a good model to look for inspiration. Release a 320*480 screen on an NR type device with a pop/slide down backlit keyboard with a non clam-shell form factor, built in Bluetooth, user replaceable battery and a 640*480 camera with flash.

Um, it is sony, do they ever give us what we want. We want NX keyboards-NO, we want CF drivers-NO, we want 320x480 tablet with VG-NO. I doubt sony are going to listen to us anytime soon

btw, the TG50 would be soo good if it had a ram upgrade and the keyboard was replaced by VG- pity that wont happen soon

this has got to be a load of crap. sony would't create all this stuff in the next model, it would make the wl100 and the even newer wl110 worthless. plus this would only make a product that is better than its predicessors, so that doesn't make sense that the camera would be crappier than that on the nz

What total BS!! Sony's next release will replace the T665. It's the last of the Mid-Level Clie's left! NZ too much, SL not enough, TG almost there, Tx?? just right=NX sans keyboard, with WiFi, Bluetooth, 32MB & HiRes+
