Installing skins and apps.

How do I properly install Zlauncher and the palm skins onto my clie...i mean i have downloaded Zlauncher and hotsynced it onto my clie, but then nothing happens. i want to know how to properly install it to the driver.

(p.s, I also want to know how to install movies onto my clie? were i can watch on kinoma)

Zlauncher requires skins, so sync them too. Then execute Zlauncher on your clie. On memory cards the skins need to be in a specific folder (/Palm/Programs/Zlauncher/Theme if i remember correctly)

For installing movie files: you can sync them to RAM or or place them in a specific folder (i think /Palm/Programs/Kinoma).

You do need a memory stick for playing mp3's unless you have the ux series, they have a memorystick like flash partition where you can store mp3´s.

Zlauncher is such an awesome program :D and i'm sure you'll love the quicklaunch feature! For installation, you need to install the zlauncher prc file (which you did) and ALSO you need to install "at least one theme for proper operation" (as it says in the ZLauncher Installation Guide).

The theme is the "skins" that sunoke is talking about. The zip file probably comes with the " ZLT_AquawoodXP_Sony_64K.prc " theme which you double click on your computer and then sync. You might also want to install a "BackImage" which is like the wallpaper of a desktop computer (the background picture).

After installing the theme, tap on the zlauncher icon on your handheld to open it. Within Zlauncher, tap the menu --> Options --> Preferences --> General and make sure that "default launcher" is checked.

And I really really recommend reading the manual. It was so helpful for me to get a better idea of things I could do with Zlauncher. Have fun!

Oh yeah, and I also really recommend getting a big memorystick, especially if you are planning on listening to mp3s and watching movies on your clie!


Some memorystick file directories are automatically made by the programs and some of them you have to make yourself. If I remember correctly, I was really confused as to where to put the MQV video files for Kimona because I had to make the folders on my memory stick manually. So here are a couple of pathways (on the memory stick) for starters:

DCIM/101MSDCF (place where pictures you take are stored)
MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/ (place where your Kimona movies should be put)
PALM/Programs/MSAUDIO/ (place to put your mp3s)
PALM/Programs/ZLAUNCHER/Theme (place to put your extra themes for zlauncher)
PALM/Programs/ZLAUNCHER/Backimage (place to put your JPEGS to use as wallpapers for zlauncher)

(p.s. if you don't like the aquawood theme you can download other zlauncher themes and select between aquawood and the new theme. If you search the forums for "palm spirit" or something like that I think you'll get some good links to other themes you can download.)
