i'm a little bit confused. is it possible to use ANY WL100/110 card (e.g. asus) or only cards that are build from SONY?

Only the SONY cards will work.

There are CF wi-fi cards by other manufacturers available, and some even use similar model numbers, leading to a lot of confusion - but they do not come with drivers for PalmOS, or the CLIE's specifically. Once again, only the SONY cards will work.

On the other hand, if you're up to writing hardware drivers for an API that has no documentation, you could always take a crack at it and write your own CF Wi-Fi card driver and see if you can get it to work. I'm sure you'd get many thanks from all of us here...
