Sad News for Zodiac owners

That's pretty old news and I wouldn't necessarily categorize it as "sad". How many current Garnet devices will be capable of being upgraded to Cobalt? I wouldn't single out the Zodiac.

I bought my Zodiac well aware that there probably would not be a Cobalt upgrade.

This isn't even news.

The story was posted on March 31, 2004.

The 1.1 release was released on April 5, 2004.

All new Zodiacs since mid-April have come with 1.1 preloaded.

Now as far as the reason for no Cobalt (Palm OS 6) upgrade is concerned, the reason is ROM size. The ROM in the Zodiac is only 8 MB. Palm OS 6.0 requires a minimum of 16 MB. Palm OS 6.1 requires even more. The only current Palm OS devices that have enough flash memory for OS6 (16 MB), are the Tungsten T3 and the Tungsten C.

You would be spending your time better asking why PalnOne hasn't released upgrades for these devices since they are actually capable of using them.
