Has anybody tried running and syncing ePocrates from their memory stick? I recall somebody mentioning they have done it. I was wondering if it was possible.;)

I don't know about syncing (probably not, since HotSync does nothign with the MS), but running it off of there is slow. Try Tarascon. http://www.usbmis-test.com/beta/beta_test.php

Thanks! How well does Tarascon work off of MS?

Works great. Takes a few secs to load, but less than ePoc. Tarascon actually supports MS, while ePoc doesn't.

This is true and the "powers that be" in ePocrates are really snotty about why they have no plans to make it work well on any expansion card. They are afraid that they will have no protection from people using it without paying for it.

The problem with Tarascon is that you need about 1.5 MB of free RAM on the Clie even if you run it off the MS.

Yes, that is a limitation. Two ways to deal with that: make sure you leave that much space open, OR, run Tarascon from RAM, and put the majority of everything else on the MS (I've done the latter; we'll see how well that works once I get to clinical rotations next year. So far, no problems.)

You can run it from MS via MsMount or PiDirect. However, you can't hotsync it in that way. You will have to manually move the files from RAM to MS.

I tried running it using PiDirect, and it still needed about 1.5mb free on the handheld.

There were instructions on how to use MSMount with apps that updated. It was either here or on LaunchPlug.com or VisorCentral.com....
You had to create a folder within the program's folder in the MSMount folder...I think the instructions were mainly about using AvantGo.

I have the NX70v with os5, and I installed the beta version of Tarascon. How do I get it to the MS? I use Yishow 5.3 and it moves it to the MS but the databases and the PRC are separated and it won't work unless they are as one. The installer does not give you the option of moving it to the MS, it installs it straight to ram. It works great, but sure eats up my ram. Pls. help

See the "Problems running Tarascon from card" thread just below this one. Basically, after you run the Tarascon installation program, open up the Palm desktop before you Hotsync. Go to the Install tab, and click "Change Destination". Move only the large "USBMIS" .pdb file to the card, then Hotsync. It should work fine.
