View Full Version : Documents to go 7 - Missing Documents?

Is anyone else having problems with missing documents in Documents to go 7? Some of the documents in the handheld version don't show up in the list. This especially happens with a spreadsheet created on my NX80. I create it, save it, close it... and it disappears from Docs to Go. It's still on the memory card or the internal memory (tried both) both will only show up after hot-syncing and then it will disappear again after opening and closing the document. I even tried saving it as another name on my desktop and re-syncing both documents and they both disappeared. Anybody know what's going on?

If you have changed the name of your Ram card or if the Ram card name has changed in any way, rename them to the same name on the desktop and the Palm device. This same "missing docs" issue happened to me because I changed to larger Ram card. Hope this helps.

drop down the menu>file>search for files

I have had files disappear from the list. If I exit docs to go and go back in they reappear.

I tried exiting and returning, they're still not there. Changed to a bigger memory stick, but that was months ago. Tried searching for files, but I have lots of files on the 1gb memory stick and it just keeps going and going... Finally had to stop it when I went to bed last night after 20-30 minutes. I emailed Dataviz, but haven't heard back yet.

Did you verify the name of your ram card/stick on the palm device and desktop software conduit? The names must match.

Yes, that's all fine. it's syncing correctly, the files disappear after syncing and then opening.

Does it happen to different documents? Maybe you have a corrupted DTG file. Have you re-installed DTG? Any response from their tech support yet?

If you're saving on the memory stick, have you checked to see that the file is actually there. I know DocsToGo saves files in a documents folder. Does it show up there if you search?

I often experience files appearing and disappearing. This occurs mostly if I open a file, and then return to the main start menu. Upon return, not all the files that showed up upon launching DTG are there anymore. Sometimes a manual refresh will uncover them, but not always. Definitely buggy.

this is the most annoying feature of DTG, vrrr

why they couldn't implement there some soft of file manager ? like every apps does. e.g. as resco did with their resco viewer ?

The files are there, see original post.

It's really annoying. You spend so much money for the *fabulous* new version and the old one was better. This program is a memory hog AND it's buggy. I have not heard from their tech support and when trying to download some pdf files from their support site, it crashed Netscape 7.1 twice!

Are you listening Dataviz?

Not like I have opinions or anything...

Funny - I just got an email from Handango touting DtG 7. Think I should tell them?

Do you have the ability to roll back to the version 6? That's the version I use.

I still have the previous version, so I guess I could, but it would mean basically starting over, as I'd have to uninstall everything. Installing this version caused me a bunch of problems, which makes this all the more annoying. If I'm not the only one having this problem, why wasn't it caught in beta?

Think I can get my money back? :)

Good question! That's a DTG support issue.

I suppose that's a good indication of problems to come, that is with all the trouble you had in loading v7. I don't see why they wouldn't give your money back.

I was given DTG v6 with my purchase of my ZIRE 72 and I wouldn't purchase it otherwise. I hope you have better luck soon.

Well, things kept getting worse and worse. I finally deleted all DtG files (including the documents) reinstalled the whole thing on my laptop and re-sync'ed. It seems to be working all right now even after moving the program files (not the documents) to flash.

cat_taylor,
Did this problem ever get solved? Just curious what your workaround was.

Oops. Forget I asked. Just found your final post.

Here comes Pdaman and saves the day! Because I know why some of the docs are dissapearing. If you exit from the doc to go while the word doc is open and use several other apps and return to doc to go you will get these few bugs. First bug is that some of the docs will dissapper. Second bug is that it complains that it can't save without you save complete new file.

What you need to do is just delete all the smallest databases like documents to go settings file which is about 35kb big. I don't know spefic file or app which causes these problems but what I think is that it is a 3th party apps fault not the inself doc to go. Though in another way to think about it is doc to go's fault because it don't handle so well other apps. Anyway just delete all small files which connects someway to doc to go and after that don't let documents to be open when you exit.

Should help,
Pdaman

Just to be contrary, I actually love the new DTG. I find it more stable than the previous versions and much much faster with native docs. Syncing is much less fraught than it used to be...
The only negative: it keeps making itself the default PDF reader - that bugs me because PalmPDF is still superior (faster, easier, clearer).

This is the first time I have actually shelled out money for a DataViz product, it's the first time I thought it was worth it. This time, it seems, they've done it right.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the app, glad that you've sorted them out.
