Anyone got this working with an NR70? I've tried it with TealMaster as the only hack...it causes a soft-reset when I go to the Unfiled category...freezes after hitting Card Info icon in the All category.

Same here for Card Info. Also, it locks up when Datebk5c p7 loads the icon database to select an icon.

Where can I find this app? I've been looking to try it to no avail.

It's to bad this V3B Hack is nice for us 4.1 OS users, but it needs some work. Has anyone tried to contact the creator of the hack?

hmmm so far no problems yet that I know of.
With V3B hack and Lubak's OS5 icons, my NR70v looks almost like an OS5 machine, with it's hi-density icons and clear easy to read fonts.

It locks up my T665C when Datebk5 loads an icon database with high density icons, and when loading Card Info. I wrote the author several days ago, but haven't heard back.

I've had this working successfully with the apps that utilize it (Agendus, DocsToGo), but it has caused problems elsewhere (specifically with SplashData products), so I use TealMaster to disable the hack for most apps.
By the way, the crash that occurs when bringing up the icon database screen (this has happened to me in Agendus too) seems to be related to specific corrupted (or somehow incompatible) icons. All of the HandyShopper hires icons work fine, but some others I've collected around the net cause a crash. By trial and error I've eliminated these, so the icons screen doesn't cause a crash...

Where can I get "Lubak's OS5 icons"?

I dont have any problems with the hack. I have tested it using the latest datebk5 beta and the latest agendus beta and both work fine. I am using the m3 icon set and tealmaster as the hack manager. Make sure you create two profiles (A and B). Have v3b hack active in profile B. Go to profile mapping under the options menu and assign profile B (v3bhack active) to agendus or datebk5. leave the rest of the apps to default or assign profile A (not active) to programs such as zlauncher, the file manager and the splashdata products. Before you exit tealmaster, tap on profile A button just to make sure that it is assigned as the default.

I just loaded V3B hack this morning using X-Master. I di this to try to get Hires icons in DateBk5 p7.
So far it is working like a dream.
I only have that one hack on my NR70V and created a new icon file for DateBk5 making sure that I have hires icons.
I didn't realize that I'd get the bonus of application icons being in hires as well.
Like I said, It is working fine for me.

Also, I am using Silverscreen and downloaded OS5 versions of some of their themes and was able to replace a large number of lowres application icons with hires ones using Appicon.
Pretty neat & No Crashes!!

What launcher program are you using with Lubak's icons...LauncherX?
I'm just trying to get the default launcher part to work!

Well, the mystery of the Datebk5 crashes w/v3bHack have been solved. Ralph Stokes posted the following on the Yahoo! forum:
TABLE OF CONTENTS
V3bhack Working on my Sony T625 OS4.1 Sony HiRes
What causes the Crashes.
My "How To" Eliminate Crashes with V3bhack
***SNIP***
Link Hack v3bHack needs Xmaster
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-PaloAlto/7022/v3bHack-0.3.zip
Link
v3bhack Works after All.
Finally after 30 or 40 Crashes, determination has paid off. the v3bHack
works now on my Sony Clie T625 OS4.1, but under the condititions below.
I couldn't understand how, when I had stripped everything, save Datebk5,
Icon Manager, and Wordsmith, from my Sony, it kept crashing, needing a
hard reset, and I lost all my data a number of times, when a few other
owners didn't. So I dived in again and figured it out.
It worked fine on Wordsmith and built-in programs, but crashed as I was
entering Datebk5.
What I did was this time was go into Icon Manager first (before going
into Datebk5) and re-named "Icon-DATEBK5" as"Icon-DATEBOOK5backup"
temporally, and created a "blank" icon Selection and named it
"Icon-DATEBK5.("Icon-DATEBK5" is the file Datebk5 looks for for it's
icons), so no icons would appear for Datebk5.
I then started the v3bHack, Went into Datebk5 and, Hey Presto, it didn't
crash. I then put one icon into the blank selection, and made sure the
"Compress Icon after editing" in compression menu, was switched off and
it worked again, andthis time I could see that one icon available for
choosing in Datebk5.
I then tried adding a dozen icons, and it did crash entering Datebk5, so
I realized it was unlikely to be the compression, as that was supposedly
off., but I left it off anyway.
What Causes the Crashing?
Eventually, I found that the only time it ever crashed entering Datebk5,
was when One, or More, Icons in the "Icon-DATEBK5" file consisted of a
High Resolution 16 bit image by itself. i.e. there is just the one image.
Under this circumstance, Datebk crashed every time, without fail.
I have re-checked by placing an icon with just one image, at at
different bit depths, resolutions, and colour, greys, mono. Still the
only combination that caused a crash was High resolution 16 bit
combination. It only takes one Icon to cause a crash.
SUMMING UP,
Datebk5, in Sony OS4.1 with v3bHack, does not appear to recognize 16 bit
High Res images in icons.
If an Icon only contains one image that is 16bit High Res. Datebk will
crash.
Datebk in Sony OS4.1 with v3bHack Gets full use of High Res/8bit,
LowRes/16bit, Low Res/8bit, High Res/Grayscale, High Res/Mono, Low
Res/Grayscale, & Low Res/Mono.
High resolution 16bit icons work with Happy Shopper. among others, on
Sony OS4.1 without v3bHack.
HERE IS MY HOW TO>
1) Install Hack and Xmaster. Do not enable yet. Do not enter Datebk5.
2) Open up Icon Manager (The Shareware Version costs $5, not the free
version that doesn't allow you to edit).
3) In the Menu, Find "Icon-DATEBK5" and select by pressing in the name.
4) You should see your selection of icons for DateBk5.
5) In the upper right corner of the screen you will see a "Drop-Down"
Menu, with the options "Best", "16bit", "Colour(8bit)", "Gray", and "Mono".
6) Choose 16bit.
7) Also, in the upper right corner, next to that menu, there is another
"Drop-Down" Menu, with the options "Best", "High(High Res)", and
"Low(Low Res)".
8) Choose "High".
9) Take a close look at your Icons- both pages. You are looking for
little orange crosses on the upper-right corner of each icon. (This
cross tells you that icon has no 16bit high resolution image in it.
10) If every single icon on both pages, has that orange cross, then you
are safe to enable the hack and go into Datebk5, as that selection of
icons, has no 16bit High Resolution images at all in it. (However, you
may wish to read on to know how to deal with icons in your other
collections, You may cut and paste, or create.)
11) If You Have found one or more Icons without an orange square. This
means that they each contain a "High Resolution 16bit" image in it.
12) Hold down on the Icon, to bring up a Menu with the These Options: -
"High 16bit (High Res 16bit)",
"High Colour (High Res 8bit)",
"High Gray (High Res Grayscale),
"High Mono" (High Res Mono),
"Low 16bit" (Low Res 16bit),
"Low Colour" (Low Res 8bit),
"Low Gray" (Low Res Grayscale)
"Low Mono" (Low Res Mono)
13) To the Left of these options, are Tiny Miniatures of the images
within that single icon. As you did not have an orange cross by this
Icon, we already know that there should be a little image next to "High
16bit", but are there any others? If there are, then we can leave this
Icon alone, for now. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IS AN ICON WITH ONLY ONE
IMAGE IN IT, AND THAT ONE PICTURE HAS TO BE NEXT TO "High 16bit." in
order to crash my Sony.
14) If you have not found any 16bit High Res image, by themselves in an
Icon, It should be fine with my Sony to enable hack and enter Datebk5.
15) You have found a High Res 16bit High Res image by itself . This will
cause a crash, unless you either delete the whole icon, or add any other
image, within that icon.
16) Within the menu showing the miniature pictures, Press a Space, where
a picture is missing. I recommend High Colour (High Res 8bit) Required
for Sony HiRes to work in Datebk5 .
17) A screen appears for you to copy and convert your "16bit High Res
Image" into a "Colour(8bit) High Res" image. Press convert and it is all
done for you. press ok, if you don't want to edit it, press OK again, to
bring you to your icons again. At the bottom of the screen, press Yes to
save, then go back into the Selection. No saves are actually saved until
you leave and save the selection, do as much as you dare, without
saving. If you want to ensure no data is lost, do it often.
18) Hold down the same icon. You should now see your new image included
in the selection. If you have friend with a different Palm, say High Res
Grayscale, you may wish to also add that a grayscale image to your icons
this way. If you converted to all the formats, you can beam (or at least
that's my understanding of it.) to different machines (Palm OS) and each
machine will pick out the image for it, and they can beam to another
PDA, that will pick it's required images.
This worked perfectly for me. I had one icon that didn't have an 8-bit color icon piece. I made one, and it solved the lockup.

The hack now works for me!
The real problem seems to be that many applications are set to run in 8 bit mode, not 16 bit. CESD has stated that this is the problem with DateBk5 - and that he may have a fix for this with the next beta release. If that works then the 16 bit icons can be used.

I had to disable v3bHack to register ZLauncher. The "About" screen of ZL and a couple other program locks my device up with v3bHack enabled. Weird! I really wish the developer would debug this great hack.

As soon as I loaded the preview of DateBk5 that supported HiRes icons on my N610 I deleted the hack.
Why do you still need the hack anyway? ZL supports HiRes app icons.

I'll do the same when Agendus' next beta (which better support hi-res icons) comes out!

Just installed the 0.5 update (my previous version was 0.3), and everthing still works fine. I'm not sure what the difference is, but the new version isn't causing any problems.
(I use TealMaster's profile mapping tool to enable v3bhack only on Agendus, DocsToGo, and AppIcon...)

Babelfish translation:
(2003/04/29)
The v0.5 release was done. Trouble of Bitmap indication of 16bit- compressed type was corrected.
(2003/04/28)
The v0.4 release was done. The performance which nullifies Hi-Density indication with application of specification was added.

Anyone know what this really means?

Oh, just noticed. Didn't quite understand the translation about v0.4 at first. You can now setup applications for the hack to ignore.
andrewcoffin
04-29-2003, 02:06 PM
I see--so you really don't need TealMaster to do this anymore.
I got a fatal error and had to perform a soft reset when I went to the "ignore" screen, however...
wellsjs
04-29-2003, 03:50 PM
Same here! :( And after completing the reset I was in low-res mode in Agendus even though v3bHack was checked. When I tapped on "details" it did another fatal error and so when the screen to re-enable hacks came up I answered "cancel," and without v3bHack running toggled the option back to active, loaded it (by checking it) and it's working again. Still a buggy hack in my opinion. When will Agendus ever implement hi-res icons support so I can dump this quirky hack?

Have you checked out the M3 iconset?
I don't remember who posted the issue with Zlauncher, but I now realize exactly why my 615 hard reset after I installed the demo of ZL last week.
