I have the opportunity to buy either or. Assuming pricing that is close, which one. Yes I know that the NX-60 is already being phased out, and that the nr-70 is phased out.

Thanx

Get the NX60, some of the NR70's had memory stick issues. I wouldn't say the NX60 is being phased out yet, as the NX70 and NZ90's are doing well. The NX60 just doesn't have the camera.

NX60 is OS5, has the CF slot which hopefully in the near future will have CF memory drivers available, plus the NX60 is more solidly built than the NR series, also has voice recording features, 200mHz, new CLIE launcher. You can't go wrong with the NX60.

THe NR70v has been known to have hinge problems as well as memory stick problems, as well squeaky hinge problems (mine has all three). The resolution on the camera of the NR is very very low, its only 240 x 320 (i think) and not really worth getting. I know if I personally had the choice, I would go for the NX60.

ill take this one step further.

if your only comparing the nx60 and the nr70v i would go for the nx60......but.....

why not consider the nx70v. i know its another price jump and the camera is the only thing that splits the two. yes the camera isnt high res but consider this.

your walking into your local macdonalds store and you happen to see elvis (yes, the real one). wouldnt you wish you had a camera to capture the moment? i know, i know probably bad example but what if........

again the camera is high res but for a $100 bucks (tops) i think its worth it.

now this might sound like an arguement for the nr70v but the nx70v also does video. the nr70v is just getting a bit too dated (by sony standards anyway)

Completely agree. There is no way I would get the NX60. I had to get the NX70 because I know I would have kicked myself later. Also it keeps me from wanting to upgrade for a while:)

Elvis is dead. So what if you won the lottery? Why not get the NZ90 if you were going to win the lottery? (sarcasm...)

Personally, I'd wait for one that runs OS 5.2

well if you took a picture of elvis the image would looks so grainy on the NX70v's camera at 640 x 480 resolution that you couldn't really make out whether or not it was really him. Sure there is digital zoom but that just distorts it. Images only come out well on the NX70's camera when you are right next to the image you are taking a photograph, that is if Elvis would let you...

ummmm.......i dont totally agree with the grainy bit.

sure the resolution isnt the best but i have taken some fantastic shots (and video for that matter) with it.

ill give you a real example....

we have a car here in australia called the holden monaro. i beleive its going to be called the pontiac gto over in the states.

one day just doing my normal thing i stumbled across one in disguise........or should i say in full police gear. at the time this vehicle hadnt been officially released to the general public. i managed to take some pics of it including video and posted it on a chat forum. hows that for a scoop !

most of us carry our pda on us all of the time. why not have the complete package

I would say grab an nx70v you are spending quite a chunk of change, why not go all the way and get a little more use out of it, its great for taking impromptu pics and videos!

Basically the way I see it.

I bought the NX70.

I find that having a camera, allthough not the best of quality is great for emergency and just fun things.

I don't see it worth paying $200 atleast extra for the NZ for the improvements. Yes it would be nice to have a camera that takes better pics, but in reality it's not as flexible as a seperate camera that you can get for $200. The camera only has a 2 times digital zoom which is lousy.

Pay $200 for a 2-3 MP camera with 2-3 times optical zoom and there you have a camera that is more flexible and you can carry along when you know you will need it.

Bluetooth issue: well considering that right now the US doesn't even really know what Bluetooth is, I will have a new PDA before I ever use it. Hell sprint doesn't even have a bluetooth phone yet.

I agree. the NX70v is the way to go. You mine as well get os5, the cf slot. I like the camera also. I had the nr70 for a night before I took it back, paid the extra 100 and got the nr70v. So when I upgraded, the nx70v was a no-brainer. Good Luck

Monaro. <wipes away drool> ... acctually, last weekend I participated in a car survey reviewing features for the new "xxxxx" replacement for a US domestic manufacturer with european holdings :), and they confiscated my NX70 on the way in the door. No pics. :(

Go the NX60. Consider a NX70 refurb. Don't bother NR70. Buy a decent camera seperately - make it a Sony with a MS slot so you can get pics back and forth easily.

Hi all,

This is my first post, and I am hoping to get your all expert opinion on my idea

I am thinking about buying the NX-60 now, because I need a PDA quickly. And I think the NX60 will meet all my needs for next 2 yrs.

My logic goes like this...

I love the larger TFT screen of the NX-60, and the protection you get with the flip design. Anyone know if it is reflective or transfelctive, and which is better? I love MP3 on it, and keyboard comes in handy sometimes. I like the virtual graffit area, thats a great idea. The wifi slot is exactly what I need, and memory sticks are great in my opinion .

I have a 4MP cameral already.
I feel the low res on the NX70 is not adequate, and not worth it. (I know about NZ90, but I ruled it out already for my plan)

I am hoping I can add a Bluetooth type (Sony Infostick?) card to NX60 it in the near future. Is this possible? I want to be able to have my future phone work with the NX60. Any comments on this?

If I can buy a new phone with Bluetooth, as soon as some phone company gets off there AZZ and releases a good one, I plan to incorporate a camera on the phone, rather than PDA, because for me, I carry the phone more than PDA. So these quick spontaneious shots make more sense to have it on the phone. I know 1MegaPixel phones are coming too.

Anyway, thats what I am thinking, anyone have any comments about this logic?

I am looking for feedback, on if a BT memory stick will be available, and work in the NX-60.

The keys for me are
-Blue tooth stick in near future
-Wifi card slot works well (I have local wireless network in my house, so I can surf on my PDA). I also find Wifi alot in my travels. Anyone surfing on the NX-60? HOw is it. How are you connecting? Does NX-60 have enough memory to run a browser type program for surfing?

All you comments would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan
