I was just wondering what the best kind of screen protector is. I had purchased some Wrightrights but the are a pain to put on and I always seem to get bubbles stuck under them. They also have a lot of glare. I was looking at getting a sony one but I thought I better find out what kind is the best first.

From what I understand, there's two types of protectors: The "sticker" type (like he WrightRights) and a firmer plasticky type. The firmer ones usually last longer and are re-usable.

I had a NuShield on my HandEra for a week before I sold it. I was the first reusable one I had. I've ordered a G2 screen protector and it should get here next week. thegadgeteer reviewed both of those and highly recommended them. I'll let you know how it goes.

From what I can tell it's well worth it to get one protector that'll last a year or more and pay $10-$15 or it, than a package of foggy gross ones for $20 a package. IMHO that is :D

Any other preferences out there?

I've had two Sony protectors. The best thing I ever did was peel it off and throw it away. The difference in visibility was amazing - I don't know how I put up with the protector for so long.

I now use a couple of coats of carnauba car wax on the screen. It's silky smooth... no drag at all. :)

Car wax eh?! Talk about economical! One can could last what- 5 years? What kind of protection does it give though?

Don't know about the protection but I figured I won't have a particular PDA for more than say, two years, and the amount of scratching on the screen in that period will be minimal. I have a Palm V for more than three years and only ended up with a couple of minor scratches. Screen protectors, while they protect the screen to some degree, don't outweigh the disadvantage of having your screen made harder to see, IMO.

I use them, mainly because I use my finger on the screen quite a bit. I like the Sony protector. I see a ton of scratches on it as well as white areas were I poke at it allot. I worry that could be my screen. The decrease in visibility is not that big a deal to me, but if it is to you, I agree that any screen protector will bother you.

I would advise you to buy a stick on one rather that a sheild that installs under the corners of the screen. I had one prior and it was difficult to put on. Also, if you have any dust underneath it, count on some serious scratches when you take it off. Someone prior said they used this type of protector and installed it with latex glove, then used wax to seal the edges so no dust could get in. Sounded like a good idea, but too much time and effort for me.
