Seeing the stuff that Sony is coming out with these days...none of which have virtual graffiti or hires+ without being bricks, I was wondering if I should buy a refurbished NR from Sony for the future?

Who would buy another now for later?

At the price they are going for now...1/2 of new they are a bargain.... I have a 610 for a back up and a NX I use daily.... but...buying a NR for a back up...I like it!:D

I love my NR, but, unless you are having trouble with yours, I believe I would save my money and wait to see what comes out next. That Garmin looks really appealing to me. 32mb of RAM, virtual grafitti, etc.. Even a refurbished NR costs about half what that Garmin is supposed to cost. Disadvantage of Garmin is all new accessories.

My educated guess is that in six months, the NX will cost the same as the NR does now, so if you already have an NR, put that money in the bank and use it to buy an NX in six months.

I would wait. If you ever need one, you will probably always be able to find one on ebay. And the longer you wait, the cheaper it should be.

If you see a cheap new one, i'd say go for it, but i doub it's worth more than around 300 for.

I have 2 NR70Vs for sale. on one, i have the complete set, including all the manuals, cds, accessories, etc. but without the box. on the other one, i have just the pda. if anyone is interested, drop me a line at LSJ7@JUNO.COM
i'm willing to sell it for a reasonable price. they are both in perfect working condition. the one with just the pda is brand new and have never been used. even the original screen sticker is on there. i've kept the first one very clean, and believe it or not, it looks brand new. and works perfectly.

What do you expect the life of your current NR to be, since you are considering a second? I would hope that, even if you purchased your NR early on, it would have at least another year in it, unless you've been mistreating it. Are the lives of PDAs really that short? It seems like most people update to a new model before the juice runs out of the old one. In any case, assuming you can get another year out of your NR, I think Sony might yet release a new model to pique your interest in that time.

I got my N760C for 18 months now and still humming. Hopefully it'll last for another year. I'll save my money for something like the Garmin one.
