Is my WiFi Dead?

I just got a (slightly used) TH-55 second-hand and i love it. I have tried scanning a couple of times for WiFi hotspots and have never managed to find any. I don't have any wifi gear, so i can't really test with anything. I have tried at a starbucks and in the city centre, where i thought there would be heaps of hotspots, but have still not found anything. Is there any way that i can find out if it's working or not? I am saving for a wireless router, and i don' want to get it and then find that my TH wont connect to it?

Why not google the internet to see if there are any HOTSPOTS in your area? =)

I dont think theres a malfunction in your clie. Why dont you go to a university? Most of them have wifi nowadays
