I purchased a SJ30 today. I have a 733 G4 Quick Silver running 10.2.4. I have not installed Palm Desktop 4.0 or Missing Sync yet.

I have not connected the SJ30 to my Mac yet.

Can I simply use iSync with the SJ30? I have seen some reports that Clie's without the Mp3 function work without the need for Palm 4.0 or Missing Sync. I'm not a hugh fan of iCal, but could live with it.

Should I install Palm 4.0 prior to my first sync and not bother with iSync at all?

This is my first PDA after 15 years of using Franklin Planners, so I'm a little behind the curve, so to speak.

Any advice would be appreciated. This is a great information source.

Mark.

here's my totally unsolicited advice (oh...wait...you did ask for it, so i guess it's solicited after all)

while you may be able to get isync to work i don't think you will be pleased with ical after using the franklin planner. i would suggest using the palm desktop and installing missing sync. there are plenty of threads in this forum where i have given my opinion about missing sync (get it).

after you do that you will want to investigate address book and date book replacements for the handheld. i am partial to agendus because of the seemless intergration of the contacts and datebook (if you ask around you will find peopel are either agendus fans or they're not, no middle ground). test out several and see.

welcome to the light!:D
