Hi, I have been using MSMount for months for my TH-55. It is a good piece of softweare.. except that it always expire every 2 or 3 months and I have to re-download another one.
Is there a non-expiring version? or is there any other software that is as good as this one? Of course, I prefer freeware over shareware.. but a more important thing is it must be as stable as MSMount
thanks

There is no alternative on OS5.
The reason MSMount expires is because it's beta - When all the bugs are worked out the expiration will be removed.
Keep feeding Nagamatsu-san any problems/suggestions you have so he can fix it up ;)
I still think this is one of the most rocking app's ever made, esp. since OS5 Clie's have not FlashROM support. This makes a good alternative ;)
What apps do you use MSMount for nowadays?

Still mostly programs with largish data files, or ones that are very fat but don't write to themselves.
I primarily use it for the Warfare datafiles, Tube maps, and Astra's funky SAIS game :)
It's not getting as much use as it used to in OS4, since many apps are becoming VFS compliant (Thank smeg!!) but I don't mind it this way - It's probably safer to use MSMount for less, rather than more apps, considering it *is* just a giant hack ;)
But an oh-so-good one!
There was some other stuff, but I'm back on MSMount v1.0.3 until my beloved TH55 comes back... *sniff*
But jeez, my T665 feels so sloooowwww now!
And it only has 2MB free!!! This is gonna take some getting used to...

I use it for my 5 MB Noah lite dictionary. Running this dictionary from the card using e.g. ZLauncher is extremely slow; with MSmount it is much faster.

You can find the answers in http://www.tankerbob.com/palm/.
Enjoy ready Tanker Bob's site. A lot of good info.

Noah lite is still not VFS enabled, huh?

Not as far as I am aware, but I'm still using version 0.65. I don't know about version 1.0; I don't use that one because it gave me some errors. Noah Pro is of course VFS enabled, but the Lite version, in combination with MSmount, is sufficient for my purposes.

If you got it in the past few days, then it is the final v1.0 so it shouldn't expire :)
Otherwise, tt should tell you when it expires when you first install it, and I believe it's written on the author's website (Although not now of course since the current version should not expire!)

The latest version (download here (http://www.geocities.com/nagamatu/MSMount5/index-e.htm)) is numbered 5.0B8 (at least this number shows up when installing with Pilot Install; checking the file with Filez only shows version 5).

Is MSMount just like Powerrun? except one is freeware and the other is shareware?

Powerrun moves apps & their DB's to the external memory... and then can be launched from the shortcuts...
MSMOUNT can be used with programs THAT are VFS lacking/dumb/not programmed to utilize the external memory.
Very different in their purpose.
