ok, here is the result: 2hours and 57minutes with LOWEST brightness without wifi and bluetooth on. is this kinda too low for a normal ux battery life? can I claim for any warranty?

My old UX50 got 2:12 h before Backlight went off but it whine as hell...
My "new"- non-whining unit got under 2 hours.
I will post what I get from my newly ordered Sony Re-Conditioned
UX50 unit...good to have one spare when they only sells it on Ebay now.

hmm..maybe if i have the time, i'll give my battery's a test. then i'll post them here..
I did the samt test with my 10 months old EB40.
I got 3:50 hours of batt-time before the EB40 was at 0 %
This is the time for the EB40 only not UX50+EB40.
(I had my UX50 at 100 % during the whole test).
Then I got 2:12 hour with the UX50 only, same test.
Total time: Approx. 6 hours [ UX50 37% - EB40 63% ]
Thats all from me.

Seriously? Wow that's pretty low all though I never did try a test just running the UX50, I did however go on a long car ride and listened to mp3s the whole way with my ux50. Batteries never ran out and it was a 8 hour trip. All though I did close the cover, I guess that most of the battery life getting used up is due to the backlight.

My TH55's battery lasts L O N G E R than a UX50+EB40. All by its little self. :D ;)

That's because the built-in apps (MoviePlayer, AudioPlayer etc.) are designed to fully utilize the excellent power-saving features in Sony's HHE (Hand Held Engine) processor. That's why they last so long playing songs, watching a movie..etc. :) If Sony would release thier API's, a LOT of other apps might be able to take advantage of the HHE...oh well. We'll be having a snowball fight in hell before that happens. :p

I reckon it's just because all those apps use the DSP's instead of the CPU.
AudioPlayer on the TH55 definitely does - If you play an MP3 the controls will slow to a crawl while you're inside AudioPlayer because it drops the CPU down to 8MHz, leaving the DSP to do all the hard work ;)
Downside is that you probably can't use those DSP's to decode anything else (Like, say OGG).
I do wonder why the TH55 has such better batterylife than the UX's 'tho, given they're based on the same architecture!

That's the MILLION DOLLAR question! Different size battery possibly?? They did something, we know that, because the disparities between the battery life of the UX50 & TH55 couldn't BE more pronounced.
