What is the Significance of Battery Cycles?

I see all these threads on Battery Cycle? What is the significance of this measurement?



One more question - my battery reading jumps all over the place. From the other threads - do I need to drain my battery and then do a full recharge?

Does this solve the problem?

Supposedly as the NZ is using newer battery technology. By cycling when first new, it seems to give it greater stamina.
