This is just a guess, but the Consumer Electronics Trade Expo will be held on Oct 5-7. in New York City. Since, I read that P1 likes to introduce new products on the first Tuesday of Oct., which would be the fifth this year, it only make sense to introduce the T|5 in NYC at a world-wide covered event.

This event is centered around PDA's and cell phones.

Only time will tell. I hope they do, because then that will give me another goal: gather more $$$ to get another toy.

Unfortunately though, I think if they don't have internal wi-fi, all the business folks from New York (that have just finished visiting the HP booth) are going to ask why? and Palm will only look even MORE stupid for not including it. Especially when people can easily see the competitions best just down the hall.

With Blackberry's new sharp high res device, the market moving towards smart phones, and Blackberry having a healthy percentage of the market share (and growing), Palm will very likely focus most of their attention on the new 650.

With the over all market declining with the high tech economy, I think
1. They will market the T5 w/o wi-fi at a price that's competitive with the other products if you purchased the SD Wifi.
- By doing this, you tap into 2 markets. The more budget market (ie. T/E) w/o wifi and the power users with a price that's competitive with the SD card.
2. Drop the Tungsten E because now the non-wifi T5 competes price-wise with it, and also because the overall market is getting smaller so you need to cut some of your products.
3. Keep the Zire line.

4. Maybe later release a T5 w/internal WiFi, Camera, and some other new technology to compete directly with the major power users. By releasing a less than adequet T now, it gives them more time to develope and refine the better version but also allows them to release something now even though they don't have something that directly competes with the PPCs.
- This also follows along with their quarterly statment that they will be putting money into R&D that they had planned to put in last quarter. Unfortunately, R&D doesn't just instantly come up with products, and it takes about 6 months or so before a beta or demo goes out, and another ~6 months for mass production.

I think Palm is going to pull a Sony and release a nice device with all kinds of cool things, but nothing we actually want.

Yes, its called the TH-55. Its the best Palm PDA out right now. Integrated WiFi, super-long battery life, flash player, a camera; what more could you want?

touche...

Although I wouldn't need a keyboard a variable processor that goes up to 400 mHz would have been nice. Maybe I would have upgraded to that instead of my 37.

Ha, good point.
But need something with an alarm that's as loud as my T615 and as loud as my cell phone, but also vibrates like my T615 and like my cell phone, as a PDA should. My PDA won't keep my schedual very organized if I don't always hear the alarm.

Besides that and the screwed up "Sony OS" (which I can get around), the thing is awsome. All my opinion though as there are lots of people who love the TH55.

400MHz CPU, bluetooth, a little less margin around the screen so I can put the thing in a hardcase and fit the resulting thing into my pocket? :D

I hope it's seven more days not wasted waiting for it! I hope there's a brilliant, techie wonderland-type of light at the end of this tunnel.
Hey, I can dream, can't I?
