I finally got over $300 saved but then Sony discontinued. The best price I'm finding anywhere today is about $320 for a refurb. Still $400 for new and unopened. Anyone else have any better deals? These things are getting very difficult to find. TIA

Worked mine from Office Depot for $270 after $50 rebate, price match and $30 gift card for "Depot Advantage" card. That was about 3 weeks ago tho... Supposedly, that rebate is still going somewhere...

I am selling my TH55 for $300 including shipping (US only). I really like it, works great, like new but I am going to the dark side and leaving the palm OS. I will include a 250 meg memory stick pro, original docs, manual and box. Screen protector since day one, no scratches.
Screen cracked on first one I had, paid $150 and they replaced the unit. Had this one for two months. If you have any interest just email dewaine@charter.net .

There was an online store that was selling refurbished TH55's for $299.99, but I guess that store doesn't sell them anymore. CNet's Shopper.com doesn't list it anymore.

After hunting for another TH55 UK release, I came across this bundle.

Looks expensive but I think the Car GPS kit makes it more expensive. Does anybody have any views of the car kit is it worth it etc...

I found mine at outpost.com. They were not the cheapest ($350), but the cheapest reputable source (they are out of them now).

If you have a Fry's by you (the brick & mortar outpost.com), they have them for $350

You can likely get a refurb from Ubid.com for less than $300. Batches of 5-15 are posted rather regularly.

I think the answer to your question is a simple one:
RESEARCH!
Be it stores in your area, or Ebay, a little time taken to learn the market (and it's not alot of time either) will get you the best results.
No offense at all intended towards our fellow members, but anything you hear here is LATE 3rd party information.
You need to be on top of things yourself if you are really seriously looking to make a purchase like this and perhaps save a little money too.
In this case, getting a "good deal" is probably going to be secondary to just plain getting one considering the situation.
