Hi all,
Has anyone heard anything like costing on this 1Gig Memory Stick, I'm sure a lot of us want one when it's finaly released. But how much will our friends at Sony charge.

Format can go upto 32Gig as well as faster access speed but when and how much is the question.

I think it'll be another month before the driver is released. List price was $880.00, although it has come down some. I haven't looked lately at prices. It's suppose to be faster, some have said as much as 10x faster.

Thanks guys,
As much $ as the unit, thought it might be, will it work on the NX70 or is there a list of compatable devices anywhere that anyone knows about. http://www.memorystick.com/en/pro_info/panel_pro4.html link talks about the speed being 160Meg where old cards are 20Meg 8x at least that's what Sony say.

keep in mind that it's entirely possible that since clies will need a driver to *make* it compatible... the bus on the clie could keep the same speed as the regular memsticks. in that case, the ONLY advantage would be size.

. . . will it work on the NX70 . . . Yes. I read, that with additional software, it will be compatable with the NX series and newer. (although the NZ may already have the necessary software).
Of course, that may change, according to Sony's whim....it may have already changed, for all I know . . .
All I know is I won't be buying it. Too rich for my blood . . .

"At the time, the company didn't expect these until April. Yesterday, the company announced that these would actually be released this month and cost less than expected.
Sony will release the first Memory Stick PRO cards in three sizes. A 256 MB one will cost $150, a 512 MB will be $320, and a 1 GB will be $640."
I got that from Brighthand's website. The 1Gb is a little too steep for me, but I may opt for the 256 or 512Mb.

The 1GB stick is definitely too much. I can barely justify spending the $320 for the 512MB stick! (my heart says "get it!" , while my wallet's telling me something else....)

1gb will be great for digital cameras. 128mb is fine for my pda - but I do not listen to Mp3's on my PDA - so I can see the attraction.
The SD and CF cards seem to read and write data at much higher speeds. I also read somewhere that there is a 4gb type2 card coming out. That is a lot of mp3's and photo's!
