I use ZLauncher and the backgrounds I use take up 300K on my internal mem but only about 20K when viewed through my mem stick using Clie Files. What gives. I tried to the delete the 300K ones on my internal and then I lose that background on ZLauncher. It's like the same file is located in two different spots but with different sizes and I can't delete on without screwing up the other. What am I doing wrong?

Where on the MS do you see this 20K file? The only ZL file I see that is 20K in size, is ZLReader_Lite.prc.
I tried with 4 different file managers and they all are basically the same.
Are you using PowerRun or PiDirect? If your using an NX, then that would rule out PiDirect.
BTW, 300K is about right for a background

n2ifp,
Thanks for the reply. I am not using any of the progs that you listed. I saw the 17-70K background files in the /PALM/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImages directory on mem stick.
Does this help you any in helping me?

There is nothing in my backimage folder(it's empty), usually that is accessed by ZL's Theme Manager. Everything in that folder should be done through the Theme Manager. I only have one background, and that's in RAM for the CDII Theme.
Whether some added Icons and other customized items were placed there by ZL, I don't know.

Could it be that the files in /PALM/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImages are jpg (compressed) ?
These are then uncompressd by Zlauncher into bmp (?) format so that they can be used as backgrounds.

That's right. You store your images on the MS. When you set an image as a background in ZLauncher, it is decompressed and copied into RAM as a pdb file. ZLauncher is not using the image off of the MS, but is actually displaying a copy of the image that is located in RAM.

I would suggest that is the case. I am using 20K jpgs on my memstick as basis for my backimages. But when zlauncher uses them they show up as 300-500K jpgs on the clie Ram itself.

Ah, okay, that makes sense, by deleting the smaller file, the program thinks you no longer want the background. Makes perfect sense now. My background shows up in the Theme Manager, but it was the only background I have ever used with ZL and it's a bmp, never was a jpg.
