it would seem that the NZ90 is not a hit in japan (with the japanese quite particular about size, i think it wont be)... most retailers are then resorting to selling there stock at online auctions starting at around JPY50,000 (around US$450)...

and especially with the announcement of the TG-series... well...

Wait until Jacksprat comes to OS5; there is going to be a market in the U.S. for those units...

I thought the initial nz90 price in Japan is already cheaper than in US due to the fact that it is a japanese version.

The NZ was announced in the US first. Anyways, japan is a culture obsessed with size. Remember in america, we love big things. In Japan, style and size is their number 1 priority.

Don't japanese models also have english, since english is popular there?

I like small electronics. My laptop is a thin/light one. I'm american :P (I would never buy a 7lbs laptop)

is this just your opinion that the NZ is not a hit in Japan??? what evidence do you have to base your assesement on?? The NZ is practically the same size as the NX and NR. Also not to stereotype, but I see a lot of Japanese tourists in San Francisco carrying cam-corders, and digital cameras. I don't think the Japanese will mind carrying an extra 1/4" and an extra ounce of size/weight!
Have you seen how in Japan they are selling Clie's with lights that blink all around them?? -that's not very streamlined in my opinion.

my evidence are the weekly rankings published by the major japanese computer dailies (Asahi Weekly, Pasokon, Nikkei, Mobairu, etc)- which i subscribe to two of them...

hhhmmm... i dont think so... the japanese are very mindful of what they put in their pockets... and that extra ounce matters so much... and take note that japanese tourists make up only a very very small part of the entire Japanese POPULATION - which i interact with on a daily basis...

here too you are mistaken... there are no Clie with lights blinking that are sold in japan by the leading PDA shops (and i know them all)... all are self-customized... and if you want your clie customized, then you would have them so in a specialty shop...

one more thing though to set things straight - here in japan, PDAs dont sell as much as cellphones... why? the size... i could send you a scan of that specific article... i leave the translation to you, though...

I concur with all the above! I was stationed there and still have friends over there, I know a lot about the social tendencies over there, especially when comes to electronics. Good luck trying to explain this to some of the nz lovers though. Just glad to see the facts to back up your info

Would it be the duplication of what they have had already? The Japanese got their Digital Video and Digital Camera already, why another PDA with 2.0M pixel with added pounds in their pocket? If I am one of them, i would just have a PDA /wo the cam
