AOL has lost their minds thinking they should charge $20 for the Palm AIM client. Are there any decent freeware alternatives that work with OS 5?

Yeah, I found the UK version floating around ZDNet. I'm not sure how well it would work from the US, though. :-)

Go to the AOL website and then choose the link for their United Kingdom site near the bottom of the page. Once you are at AOL UK click on the "Mobile" tab and then choose the PDA's link from that page. On the page that loads you will see a link for "AIM for Palm". You can download the 1.0 version for free from there (1.1 is the version being sold for $20). Thie 1.0 version from the UK site works just fine here in the US. I am using it on my NZ90 and it works great with both the 802.11B WiFi card and an access point or the built-in bluetooth and a bluetooth access point.

AIM v1.1 from Palmgear is free, I don't know if it will work in the UK.

Ah, cool. I wonder why AOL is charging money for it, while other sites are giving it away free...

I have the UK version on my Clie and I live in the US and it works fine. I connect my T415 to my cell all the time and connect to AIM. For some reason when I used my AOL screen name it couldn't load my buddylist. However when I created a new screen name on AIM it loaded it just fine. The only thing I wish I could do was have it run in the background. I think I'll wait and see if OS 6 can do that. I think AOL is doing horrible right now and is trying to get money where ever they can like charging $20 for AIM.

Why can MP3 players run in the backround but AIM can't?
:( WEIRD!
