Yes. Thanks Tixx!
I checked the About FileZ and it is still saying FileZ 5.3.2:1/4/04, although the zip file says filez60.zip. How can I tell if it is indeed FileZ 6.0?

Load up FileZ, and at the View and Edit Files/Information/View Preferences screen, just hit the Menu button and clock About FileZ - Mine says Filez 6.0:9/10/04

How can I tell if it is indeed FileZ 6.0?There was a mistake when it was first posted on PG last night, with the old version linked to the new ad. It was fixed before 2 AM. Try downloading again. Check the zip file . . . the file dates should be 9.10.04.
Also this app is a free upgrade to previous free users! :D
Thanks, Cyker. I found out the problem. I downloaded the zip file from the one on the bottom of the PalmGear page, below the updated description, instead of the one on the top, next to the screenshot. I don't know why they put 2 different download icons.
Thanks to wellsjs too. I didn't see your reply after I posted this post.
It is fast! My next FileZ wish were to be able to see my file list in 320x480 screen.
Nice :)
thanks for the info!

I'm sticking with FileZ 5.3.2, and I'll tell ya why.
The feature I rely on often, is either missing on 6.0, or for the life of me I can't figgure out where it went.
Here it is. In 5.3.2 on the main screen tap "View and Edit Files". Then from the pulldown menu tap 'Select'. Then 'Select All'. Then, in the pulldown menu again go over to the right to 'Set'. You will then see the options in the menu that will enable you to turn Backup On, Backup Off, Copy-Protect On, Copy-Protect Off, for EVERY app in RAM...all at once. I use this great feature quite often to make bulk batch changes to ALL my files in RAM. Like when I have just used the Sony MS Backup to backup all my files to the MS, I like to use FileZ to turn all the backup bits on my apps in RAM off. Makes the HotSync a little speedier I've found.
I can't find, of figure out where this great little feaure went in FileZ 6.0?? HELP! ;)

Thanks for the tip Tixx. I had to download it three times before I finally got V6. Palmgear kept giving me 5.3.2.

Funny. But it took me three attempts as well but I finally got V.6

Get v6.0 - It's got a lot more features ;)
For instance: The one you talk about? <StrongBad voice> It became a whole lot cooler :D
1) Select all the files you want to have a certain attribute set (Or select all via Select menu.
2) Select Menu -> Set Attributes
3) You are now in a new form with a whole load of checkboxes. Select "Backup" and "Set" then OK and all selected apps will have their attribute set! :)
It's like the old system but you can set/unset multiple file attributes at once. It's totally cool! :D

Thanks Cyker. I tried that on 6.0 and it didn't seem to have any effect but I'll download it and try it again since you say it does work on the new version. ;)

Yeah, in the beta a lot of the attribute code (Internal & VFS) was not working properly but now it is :
That said, if you have troubles still, it might be worth sending a bug report to the programmers ;)

Strange . . . PG must use multiple file servers and at least one has the wrong version. I guess it's hit 'n miss . . . or is it miss, miss, miss 'n hit? :D

The faq says they will not support hires mode on Sony Devices that don't use the standard PalmOS support for it.

Can someone who has used both fileprog and filez tell me if there is any difference? I've been using fileprog but am not that familier with filez and was wondering if there is anything it can do that fileprog can't.
edit ---------------
After going through the menu screens it appears that filez lets you edit files, and can also export the file tree to memo. But fileprog has quite a few features that filez lacks - first, you can choose tiny font so you can fit much more on a hi-res screen, also, it allows three columns of information to be shown (name, size, type etc...). This is in no way a full review but If you can only have one file-manager and you don't need to edit or memo(ize) your files I would try fileprog.

I actually thought FileProg was a fork of FileZ - It came later but looks incredibly similar!
I tried it when it first came out, but went back to FileZ.

fssia, I have WinZip 9 SR-1 and had no problem unzipping the new FileZ prog. It's not WinZip after all. I tried the zip files I downloaded before this week and they were fine. I downloaded the zip files from Astraware and they were unzipped with no problem too. So it's just the zip files from PalmGear. :(
I wrote to their support and they were asking if I was downloading the demo versions. What difference does it make? I've been downloading their demo apps and games for at least 2 years now and I have never had any problem with the unzipping before. Anyway, lets see what they can tell me after I give them my feedback.
Winexprt, thanks for the freeware! I will sure give it a try! :)

Thanks,I don't think u can delete things in ROM with FileZ. Only JackFlash or JackSprat can do that. Can't remember which is which. The veterans here would be able to confirm which one. ;)
JackSprat. However, I'm not sure if it's compatible with T3.

Always Friend, always. :)If the world is full of freeware, what kind of world will that be? ;)
Yecoyote, the veteran has spoken! :D Jacksprat is for removing apps in ROM. I made the mistake thinking that FileZ can do that few months back. Luckily no permanent damage done. I think I tried to delete PGPocket as the one in ROM is an older version. :o

I dream about a hires+ version...
<aol /> Filez definitely could use that support. Of course the issue is that Sonys have one way of doing it, the T3 has another, and PalmOS 5.3 defines yet another new way. (Of course the T3 can become 5.3 compatible..)
Someone contributed a bit of code to plucker under a very liberal license which figures out the screen size for any app without using any of the above APIs.
*looks* Here it is: http://sourceforge.net/projects/palmresize

Hmm. I found a bug using this on my TH55 already. When I change the file list color, and then hit OK...all I see is a blank white screen, with a tiny box that's the color I just chose. I have to exit the application to get back to using FileZ. :(

I don't see any difference from FileZ 6.1 to 6.2 Beta 3. I guess cuz I'm using SJ33. Also is the HiRes only for OS 5 cuz I can't see much difference between the looks. Still very plain and simple like before.
