I was checking on the SONY site for updates on the NX80V and I came around a "Movie Player System Software Update Program" (http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?template=EN&upd_id=1256&os_id=12&mdl=PEGNX80V) which description is "Enables the Movie Player System Software to play Apple QuickTimeŽ format files recorded by Mobile Movie compatible devices."
Does anybody know how this work? I tried watching videos recorded with my Nikon Camera which have a .mov extension, but nothing comes up in the Movie player screen.
I tried the following:
1.- Placing the CF card used by my camera directly in the Clie.
2.- Copying the .mov files to a memory stick on the movie directory (mq_root/100mqv01) with its normal name and extension (DSCN1335.MOV in my case)
3.- The same as number 2 but renaming the file to (MOV00001.MOV)
Nothing happens...

Can u try Image converter which came on Instalation cd.
I think Image converter can help you to convert *.qt,*.avi,*.mpg,*.Mov
I have also Nx 80 But file name for movie player is like MOV00001.MQV
You also requir latest Latest Quick time player.
If i am mistaken something You will get lots of informaton here also.

Thanks Macrack5. I do use Image converter normally, but I thought that the update would let me use normal QuickTime files without the need of converting them to the .MQV format. That would be very convenient...

I think I recall reading something about how the movie is supposed to be named and in what folder it had to be based on the extension. You might try searching the archives here. It might also not read anything from the CF card. (Sony was funny about only letting you use the native apps with the memory stick slot.) Of course I could be completely wrong and it doesn't matter. Maybe it's just the voices I hear in my head.

MobileMovie is QuickTime MPEG4 codec w/ some specialized limitation (like movie details' header, streamrate, etc). Normal QuickTime MPEG4 movies can't play on CLIE (even you get that upgrade patch). It is just for users to play videos created by VR100K.

And what is VR100K?
It's something like a VCR that records on memory sticks
you should frequently check sony's websites if you are a clie fan
