View Full Version : SL10 Travel Charger???
I saw a travel charger for the Clie on Ebay. It says that it is compatible with the SL10, SJ20, etc... I have an SL10, and I am wondering how this would work, since the batteries on the SL10 are non-rechargeable. Does this charger really work?
Thanks in advance,

Err the SL-10 uses AAA batteries. The other 2 models use a different type of battery.

Yes, the charger really works... but NOT on an SL10.
Compatible might mean it will plug into the SL10 port, but I assure you that it will not charge your device.
The BEST travel charger I have ever come across for an SL10 is a spare set of AAA batteries in your hip pocket. Works every time, and charges your device to 100% instantly! ;-)

lol :D
I use rechargeable batteries... I think it's cheaper, and every pair lasts more.

True… rechargeables are the way to go. When I had my Palm IIIxe, I kept a pair of rechargeables in my handheld, and a second pair in the charger. However, I always carried a set of Alkaline batteries for emergencies. Why Alkalines?
The problem with NiMH batteries is that they lose about 1% of their charge daily (whether or not you use them). Therefore, they’re not very good to carry around as a “backup set”. In a couple months, they’ll be just about dead, and that’s not something you want to find out when you’re lost in another town and relying on a Mapopolis map to get you “un-lost”. I suppose you could always ask someone for directions (if you’re a female that is – men must NEVER ask for directions - It’s against our code of, well, you know, whatever…)
So to avoid having to remain lost for days, or weeks (or even worse, having to ask for directions – just the thought of it makes me shudder) make sure you keep a set of Alkaline batteries handy for emergencies.

i used NiMH 4 awhile. if they got really low, my CLIE would become very unstable. sometimes i would tutn it on and everything would be erased. also, NiMH batteries are only 1.2v compared to alkaline which is 1.5v

There's a way to solve this "problem": Press <shortcut> . <twice, so it will show the dot> 7, and repeat it until you get your battery type. This way, the palm will recognize your battery type, and show the right percent.
BTW, in case you're afraid you'll "damage" the CLIE, it gets back to normal after a soft reset.
And, at least for me, NiMH batteries last more than Alkaline.
