View Full Version : MP3's Won't Play on sj33...

This is a great site. I have a question.

I cannot get the MP3's to play on my sj33. They will load, but they just sit there when I press play. I can hear audio (a click) when I press the play button on the audio player, but I cannot hear the mp3 music. Additionally, the timer does not tick, leaving me to believe this is not an audio problem, but a problem with the player itself.

Sony advised me to do a hard reset, which I did. That made it work! Great! But then, when I restored my data, it stopped again. Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?

Thanks!

Try different songs, or perhaps since it worked before you restored your data, you will have to go through each app and see which one makes it stop working, just a thought! Good Luck!!

(sigh) I've tried a variety of songs, to no avail.

You're probably right about going through the apps one by one and seeing which one is conflicting. I really have it LOADED up, so that will take me a while.... :(

Thanks. :)

OK -- I removed everything that was not there when the Clie was new, except for FATfs, and it still won't play.

FATfs, won't remove. It says it can't delete it. Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

what is fatf's? Do a hard reset since you already deleted all the extra stuff, then just try the audioplayer before installing anything else, then if that don't work, return it and get new!! Does the fingerprinting all over the cover bother you? That is why I returned mine~~

I got it!!!

FATFS is a patch from when I had my Palm m130. It allowed the 4.0 OS to access SD Cards over 32 Meg in size. I had moved up to the SJ33 and simply synced with my PC to get my data onto my Clie.

The sync brought with it the FATSF patch. But it is not necessary in 4.1 So it was interfering with the OS.

After doing a hard reset on my SJ33, I went into my backup directory on my PC and deleted the FATFS.PRC file.

Now it all works!

Thanks for your help here. This is a great forum.

That happened to me when I upped from an M125 to an M130.

When I cut the m130 loose, I started from scratch with my SJ33, only retaining my PIM apps data.

Great thread.
I'm sure there are others who have unwittingly done this.

are your songs in the right format?

Cl, the problem's already solved. I'm assuming they are in the right format, as he said it works, and then proceeded to explain to us what the issue was and how he fixed it ...

The fingerprinting looks fine when it is uniform. I used to sit there intentionally smudging the cover until I ended with the most pleasing texture ...

Hey i never see the fingerprinting that way...i was quite annoyed of it. But I guess now I can see it in a different light, hahaha! The smudge is not as bad as the Tungsten E anyway. :p

Thanks - sorta. I also upgraded from an M130, and I've now removed the FAT driver and now the Audio application plays MP3s. Unfortunately when I use MSBACKUP it now just hangs and does nothing...
