Which do you use and why? Can you run vfs off of MS without a app like Backupbuddy vfs?

VFS is part of Palm OS 4.

Those two apps do backup of your data, in case of battery failure or in case of hard reset (or other unforeseen problem).

MS Backup is included, BackupBuddyVFS cost money, but has the valuable feature of scheduled backups.

search. there are a lot of discussions about this topic. I personally use backupman. It works great on my NX. Honestly, the built-in MS backup works great but I like features that backupman has such as restoring individual files and ability to schedule automatic backups.

When you create a backup using MSBackup, it creates it and embeds the serial number of the device into the backup so you cannot restore to a different handheld. BackupBuddyVFS (FREE) does not have this limitation, but is also a bit slower during the backup process then MSBackup. I backup to both on the same stick without any problems.

My suggestion is BackupBuddy VFS because of the scheduled backup feature as already said and it is faster to backup than MSBackup

I tried BackupMan after what you and others wrote in the other recent thread about this, and it works great. Registered the next day. Seems to be the only reliable backup solution as of now for the NX.

I like Backup Buddy. The tech support guys there are great...they respond right away and are very helpful.
