TomTom Navigator 3 on the TH-55

Hi,

I just wanted to know if any of you have tried out TomTom Navigator 3 on the TH-55, cos I quite like the 3D navigation thing and was wondering whether it was compatible with the TH55 or not.

I think Tomtom will only work on the Tungsten T3.

Sorry Reggie, but the Tomtom Navigator is also working on Clies!!!

There is a Clie Version for Clies which is not described on the Tomtom HP. But it´s working on a TJ27!!!, on the NX73V. I could imagine, that it´s also working on the TH55. But I don´t know it, I have not tested it yet!

Here on a site of the Online Protal of the German Mediamarkt here (http://shop.mediamarkt.de/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=39807&catalogId=5000&langId=-3&storeId=5000&categoryId=10007) you can find the TJ35 with Tomtom Navigator.

TomTom 4.12 works fine on a TH55, but I have not been able to make it work with its GPS car cradle (PEGA-C55).

Any idea ?

Have you tried a bluetooth GPS? With the nx73v its working really good.

This French site (http://www.clieandco.com/00clieandco/02news/pages_news2004/news_006.html) claims Tom Tom 4 works provided you patch with 4.12, however their screenshots are mostly Pocket PC? The Tom Tom sites does not detail anything (maybe agreement with PalmOne?). The French site also says if you need the software only (ie you have a GPS) you can buy the PocketPC version and it also includes the palm versions??? Anyone can confirm?

I'm using TomTom 4.12 on my TH55 with a Fortuna GPSmart BT device. Works great.

2. Are there any performance issues (ie is it slow?)
3. Did you but the pocketPC version and was the Palm version included on the CD?
4. Were did you buy the software and was it bundled with a GPS receiver?

IMHO No. It is even faster than Digi-Map

This means there are files missing:
You must have the original installed files on the MS in the directory \TOMTOM. These files are (German Version)

Data.chk
Munich.bin (this one might be different for other languages)
TMCCODES.PR3
DATAxx.CHK (Soundfiles)
TMCPATHS.BFL
TRAFFIC.DAT
and the start.prc in the directory \palm

Anyone have any suggestions for a small BT (I have the European TH55) GPS receiver that will work with Tom Tom? (The Fortuna looks a bit big and expensive)

Emtac Crux. But first think about your use-cases. I like the fortuna because it uses 3 AAA Batteries / AAA akku wich makes me independet from AC (loading) or car power. Usefull when you walk or go mountain biking.

A friend loaned me his TomTom for PPC disk and it had the Palm installer on it. It works on my TH-55 until it gets to the map activation page. I need a Product Code to activate via the TomTom website.
If I buy a PPC TomTom package will the code from that work.
TomTom don't seem to sell Navigator for Palm as software only

But to answer your question: yes the product code from tomtom for ppc will lead to a working activation code for palm devices too.

In Germany some dealers (like MediaMarkt) unbundled the tomtom T3 bundles.

I've been having lots and lots of problems getting GPS software to work properly with the Navman 4460. Smart ST keeps freezing and so did Mapopolis but now I have got TomTom working the connection seems fine (BT) and the software is just so much more user friendly than any other I have used.

I finally got mine working using the code from tomtom for PPC and activation code from the website. Curiously it would only accept the code if the units of measure was set to Kilometers.

Now i have tomtom uk maps working excellently on my TH55 i need the USA maps. I have the CD's for a PPC version of the maps but these do not contain the Palm installer.

Can anyone help me? has anyone managed to get the USA maps working on the UK navigator software or is there a US-specific version of the navigator software?

Quick one for you Tom Tom 4 users: can you be listening to an MP3 with the Sony Audioplayer in background task AND using Tom Tom 4 with voice directions? Do the announcements get through the music? Does the music continue after the announcements?
