There it is. Another profitable reason to develop CF drivers for our NXs. I think it would be a perfect platform for receiving text news updates/messages and sending text messages.

ahhh yes that wold really be nice since i like to use AIM most of the time *hhehe :)

BTW is it possible to use AIM on an NX thru wifi?

I believe so. Have you tried Verichat ? I do not have an AIM account, but it seems to pick up my yahoo and MSn accounts.

I use AIM and ICQ WiFi on my NX daily. I've also been able to use it PPP over IR. Haven't tried usb ppp yet. Funny thing is AIM for palm used to be free now it is for sale at handago. It's the exact same version that used to be free d/l on Aol site. Now they want like $20 or something for it.

Couldn't you just use the Wifi card for this? why would you need additional CF drivers?

Unless it's a new thing, AIM 3.0 is $20, while AIM 1.1 is free. Also, it's been rumored here that AIM 3.0 does not work with anything but dial-up (preferably AOL dial-up), while 1.1 will work with any Internet connection.

To sonyslave's point - a chat app for the NX that uses wi-fi would be great. Honestly, the biggest advantage I saw of the Tungsten | T was that it came with BlueChat for BlueTooth-enabled chatting to another T|T.

As far as I know WiFi has limited range. I would like to see a product that turns the NX into a two way pager with text receive and send capability. So anywhere you go, not just hotspots and Starbucks's, your NX works like a two way pager.

Imagine headlines, stock quotes sent to you, sports scores, short text messages etc. And you can email any address or text anyone with a short message service enabled device.

Downside: it will shorten your battery life.

Also sounds like a job for a Bluetoothed enable phone and a Bluetooth card.

dang! $20 fer a AIM!?! that sux :mad: i dont think i'd want to pay for something that used to be free... i'd rather used that money towards the cf driver ;)

anyone have aim that they can send me?

actually, i wish they'd make a hybrid wifi/bluetooth CF for that very reason.
