Like all of the registered user of ML3.2.2, I'm offered for free upgrade to ML4.2.  With all of the ML4.0 commotion I'm still hanging on to ML3.2.2 and not sure about upgrading it to 4.2.  For those of you who already made a plunge to ML4.2, what additional features in ML4.2 that are worth upgrading from 3.2.2?  How much memory would ML4.2 take?

Thanks

1. You've got HiRes+ Capability with 4.2.
2. Background support (which has nothing to do with the functionality of the launcher, but I love it).
3. Now you have Icon support in the tabs.
4. You can change the icons in the launcher.

It still has the speed of 3.2.2 and is now much more functional. I LOVE MegaL 4.2.

I have been wondering my self. I have not used older versions of ML, But I do like 4.1 . I have now tried most of the launchers out there and like this one the best. I am a little disappointed that I can not use most of the great skins that I have found though.(only work with 3.2). Also there seems to be a bug. When tapping info icon everything internal shows up fine, But selecting external shows nothing. I have tried everything to get it to work. Has anyone else seen this??? Dave.

What really sucks is they took the archive feature out. They told me they were going to add it back in on the next release but that was 4.1 and still nothing by 4.2. If you look at the resources for the prc you can see the icons for the archive feature in there and some code for it.

In 8bit mode ML 4.2 is approximately as fast as 3.22, but is noticably slower in 16bit mode. If you use the archive feature of 3.22, it is gone from ML4. Also if you use the jog dial and/or backbutton to launch other apps, like with easy launch or slow launch, ML4 does not support that. You can still use that capability from within another app, launched by ML, just not from the ML screen. About the only additions are 1. hidden or protected categories. 2. category icons 3. changable app icons and hidensity icon support. 3. backimages, but no easy way to create your own, so far. 4. MSMount type support for moving DBs to MS with the app, but not very well implemented so far. Without backimages, the size is approx 800k on my NR, which really is not a huge difference from 3.22.

Dan, if you have the memory space available, you can run both ML4 and ML3.22 without any problems, so you can try it out for yourself.

sebring - Are you referring to ML 4.2 only?  The reason I ask, is that the jogdial / backbutton works well in ML 4.1.  I use 4.1 now and will probably upgrade to 4.2, but I like the jogdial and backbutton support.  Please clarify.

Thanks.

Jog dial and back button work fine for ML, just won't work with Slow Launch for launching other apps. This has been true of all release versions of ML4. ML4 beta did support using Slow Launch.

Wow, 800K w/o back images is huge. My ML3.2.2 with Aerospace sony skin takes about 508K. The speed and size are two important criterias for me, so I'm still not sure to give up the ML3.2.2 just yet. However, since it's a free upgrade, I'll give ML4.2 a shot this weekend. Thank you all for the comments.

Oh, I see what you mean.  My bad.  I misunderstood you.
