In the Brighthand review did I read correctly that only 11MB RAM is available to the user. If so, that just made my decision for me. I was really looking forward to this unit and chomping at the bit to get my hands on one to compare it to my T665C. I thought it had a good shot of being my next upgrade. If this memory limitation is accurate however, I won't be getting this unit. Oh well. Have to wait for the TG-55 I guess with hopefully a larger screen and the memory issue resolved.

even worse for NZ
TG is 11Mb free with picsel viewer in ROM
NZ is 11Mb free without picsel viewer in ROM

tho i always save my heavy-applicatins on MS (e.g. japanese and korean fonts, dictionary, bible and pictures)

The NetFront internet browser doesn't run without the 4MB that is reserved for heap space. The extra 1MB is for the OS.

Anyway, go get the OS5 version of PowerRun -- I have 100 apps on my NX and 6MB free.

That is correct: 11 MB.

What's ironic is it was announced the same time as the SJ22, a device that costs half what the TG50 does, but the SJ22 has 15 MB of user-accessible RAM.

The SJ33 also has 15mb of free ram. Could the 11 mbs free have something to do with the OS5 system since the SJ33 and SJ22 run 4.1? Just a thought since this seems to be the issue for all the OS5 units that I can see so far.

I was referring to the Sony Clies that run OS5. However I am thinking that it isw just something that SOny does, maybe the next clies will have more than 16mbs.

the answer to your question is there, people just decided not to read it:

the OS takes up approximately 1mb of space, 4.1 or 5, so that's not the issue.

also, with the Garmin: 16mb of that 32mb is reserved exclusively for the GPS maps. so, in truth, you still only have 11-14mb of space.
