After buying an NX70 I loaded:

Avantgo
Kinoma Player
Documents to go
and Syncall

I checked my memory and I have 1 meg of the 11 left.

I added up all the large files

Photoeditor 600K
AgDocsMQ 472K
Avantgo 831
Kinoma 145K
Sheettogo 490K
Wordtogo font 267K
WordView+ 588K

These add up to less then 4 MB When I estimate the total of the rest of the files, I might be a little over 4 MB.

Where are the other 5 MB located?

Why would I be so low on memory when I have only loaded a few non included programs?

If youhave loaded up movies for Kinoma or documents for Docs to Go, they will not show up on the normal launcher.
If you went into information (from the default launcher) or even delete files - you can see these database files (of movies and documents) which would fill up the memory.

It is recommended that you place movies and documents into the memory stick. Typically located in /Palm/Programs/kinoma (for kinoma movies) or /Palm/Programs/gmovie (kinoma or gmovie) and so on.

Have a look at http://www.launchplug.com/ for a heap of good information on how to optimise your programs with the memory stick.

You can delete Photo Editor as it's only a temporary file, the actual app is in ROM.

Wordview+, Sheet to Go, can be placed in the /Palm/Launcher folder.

Docs to Go has to stay in RAM for HotSync purposes.

You can get PowerRun to help move apps off to the memory stick.

There are other tricks you can do to. If you read the readme for Avantgo, you can move most of that to the memory stick too.

I have 100+ apps and still have 5.7mb of RAM free.

The other 5mb is used by the OS as heap memory.

well I found out what it was. During a trip to New York I didn't have a MS with me, so I took pics, which were saved onto the Internal Memory. When I came back and Hot synced, I had to restart the system. I thought I had lost them, so I was not accounting for those.
So I guess my next ? is, what is an easy way of moving the pics over to my desktop?

well I moved all the photos from my Internal to the MS using the move command in the viewer.

Now when I click on CLIE files to check the memory it gives me a

Memory MGr. c Line 3583 free handle fatal error and i have to reset.

Have you (soft)reset from the back of the Clie. All your memory might be locked up. Can yo run other apps okay? Did you move or delete any other files? Has your Clie been backed up? DO NOT do a HotSync right now, save that in case your only choice is a hard reset, otherwise you'll corrupt the desktop PC. It sounds like you have corrutped memory and may need a hard reset as a last resort. First try the soft reset, if that doesn't fix it, then retrace your steps as to what led up to your situation.

yes all the apps run.

basically as I stated earlier in this thread. I found pics on the Internal system. I moved them over to the MS using the camera view program. After they all moved over, I checked the files to see what my memory was, since that was my initial concern. That is when it started to happen.

I know many people get this message during 3rd party software and it goes away when they remove the software.

Well this is happening to me on the clie's file manager.

A different memory question, if I might.

I have about 2MB left internally and 77MB on the MStick. This was just after loading a bundh of Flash files onto the mem stick.

The NX70v said am low on memory or I don't have enough memory. Is not 2mb internally enough?

I moved wordviewer + and sheets to go to MS as suggested above and now have 3.8MB free. And no more memory notices. And the flash programs are running faster.

Any clue what the problem was?

Thanks (I did a search and this was the closest thread I found so far - sorry for being slightly off topic).

you didn't have enough memory to run some apps. You should be fine now.
