Isn't that special.

Are you using the Belkin F8T001? I didn't have any problems either, er it took an hour or so to get it working. I don't think I'm getting the 100m range they advertise...darn walls.

it maybe but I doubt you would get the range. It transmits 100m maybe, but your unit only transmits less than 30ft.

Good point!

...so it is true then?...it takes 10x longer to do something in Windoze, than it does on a Mac....

Actually its the other way around. It takes 10x longer to do something on a Mac and on Windows cuz you can't find any programs for the Mac.

Jennyfer,

I have been at it for two days and I still can't get my system to Hotsynch with Bluetooth.

What's the secret?

Thanks

starshreak: I bet you cannot name a program that I would actually want to use that is unavailable on the mac.

(but aint it great that even with our winblows/mac differences...we can both communicate our love in Clies:D)

Fireants22- (Yup.  At least this isn't a pocketPC vs Palm. haha)

I cannot speak for you, but for me that would be any new game and a few apps.  Not to mention, besides looks, I can build a PC that will run rings around a mac for the same price.  I can bet that my P4 2.5Ghz, Audigy 2 sound card, 4x dvd+-RW sony drive, 40x Yamaha, 512MB, 128mb Gforce4 etc, etc costs me way less and is way better at doing things than let say:

Summary
• Power Mac G4 Dual 1.42GHz w/2MB L3 per proc.
• 512MB DDR333 SDRAM (PC2700) - 1 DIMM
• 2x180GB Ultra ATA drive
• Optical 1 - Apple SuperDrive
• Optical 2 - None
• NVIDIA GeForce4 Titanium w/128MB DDR
• Ultra SCSI PCI card & cable adapter
• 56K internal modem
• Bluetooth Module
• Apple Pro Keyboard - U.S. English
• Mac OS - U.S. English

$3600+

I'll still be able to play any game I want, and unlike most people, my winXP is as stable as my works Imac with OSX.    I can also bet that unless youre using an optimized driver for the dual processor for some photoshop filters, I can now say I can run photoshop better than a mac can.

A better question is what can the Mac do for me that I cannot do on a PC? (I'm a hardcore gamer, and I do photoediting)

Try doing video editing on a mac. It sucks. I switched over a year ago and I'm never going back to PC's. Everything is easier on a mac.

Congrats Jennifer! I just ordered a Belkin Bluetooth USB adapter, so hopefully I'll be getting in on that hotsynch action soon as well!

Just realized that my post doesn't make sense. Video editing on a PC sucks. It's much better on a Mac. Sorry.

This is probably obvious to most computer savvy people but I couldn't get it to hotsync because I didn't have the right port selected on Hotsync manager. I'm using a laptop and it was serial port 5....I found it on another thread here. It was most exciting when it worked. It's here:

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5893&highlight=bluetooth+hotsync

scroll through the thread and it will tell you how to make it work!

How did you do it? I get a "synchronization information" error:

"Local service failed - Error code: The 'Save Objects in PIM" is not checked in the Configuration Panel"

I don't know where to check this!

I'm trying to hotsynch via bluetooth to an IBM Thinkpad A31p with integrated bluetooth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ellen

Unregistered,

to get your Clie to sync through bluetooth:

- find out which comport your BlueTooth Laptop is assigned to.
In the Belkin USB adapter there is a service (in the configuration window) called BlueTooth Serial Port.
On my system the BlueTooth is using COM8.

Next, also on the laptop, go into your HOTSYNC properties and make sure there is a checkmark beside LOCAL SERIAL
Then go into the SETUP option below, and under SERIAL tab select COM8 (or whatever com your bluetooth adapter is assigned to)

I hope this helps.
