This might be off topic but with the new, just announced iPod from HP and the 4th gen iPod from Apple actually can interface with the Palm Desktop to sync appointments. Both have exactly the same features.
Anyway, my question is, if you are getting an iPod, where will you get it from, HP or Apple?
I know that Apple has one of the best support. HP's is also good. HP can probably offer more discounts. But, when carrying an iPod, does it matter to you that your version is HP's and not an original Apple?
Let's hear what you all think.

HP dosen't control product prices as much as Apple does. I'd get the HP because of the Palm Desktop syncing, hopefully it will sync w/ Outlook too.

I have a 3rd generation iPod that I prefer the design to over the 4G iPods, but I definately like Palm Desktop sync.

Actually both syncs with the Palm Desktop.
As for price, Buy.com now is taking pre-orders of the 40GB HP iPod for $375 with free shipping.

So they are going to look exactly the same? I liked the bluish gray in this (http://portableaudio.engadget.com/entry/5685926482536672/) photo

So HP has a contract or license from Apple, to produce these now? That's seems kinda weird to me.

This also seems weird to me too... Seeing how I never go anywhere with out my PDA, I don't see the need to carry my contacts on my Mp3 player since my PDa does so much more interactively than just viewing stored informaton... now put the Palm OS On the iPod, or make a HDD multimedia Palm OS device that could also double as an MP3 player and a video viewing device....
But until such time I am very happy using my PDA as a PDA and than some, and also happing using my portable Mp3 player (the iRiver not no iPod) as an Mp3 player seperatly.

My few is this, DO NO SUPPORT HP in any way shape or form. They are one of the worst companies ever!!! Also, think about this, it's not a HP porduct, what happens when HP decides all of a sudden to stop, jumps ship and that's all she wrote. Support Apple, with out them this would be a much darker world.

I don't like standing up for the iPod, but this is just tasteless and wrong.

I'd say, get the iPod from the people who created it.
As for syncing with PalmDesktop: I've only copied my "-Owener-" contact to my iPod and checked "Contacts = On" in Settings.
So if I ever loose the iPod  I hope someone will bring it back.

Neither...iPods make you insane. View the conduct of so many of their owners when anyone says something like "God doesn't work for Apple". Whooboy, just watch the flames.
Creative or iRiver....all the way.

The non-iPoders are even more vocal in their whining and crying that they did not buy an iPod.
